Personally I think its too much. That would be fair 3 years ago. Buts his stock has gone waaayyy down. And they are not going to get the return for him that they're hoping.

YOU ARE WRONG!

Iggy's worth is still good. I think it is a benefit in this abnormal year of a shortened season and with the cap going way down that Iggy is a rental. A legit contender only has to absorb his salary this year in a run. Heck, CGY can even retain some of that salary to get a better deal.

If CGY decides to move the core (Iggy, Kipper, JBo), it is imperative that they get at least 1 legitimate, NHL ready center that can play top 6, or at least has the potential to.

We are such a poorly built team. If we moved Iggy we are still over-loaded with wingers. We would still have in our top 9 Tanguay, Backlund, Iggy, Hudler, Stajan, Cervenka, Glencross, Baertschi, Stempniak. Out of those 9 players, only 2 are centers. We could and should also trade Cammi as I think Baertschi will take a larger scoring role next year.

- TandA4Flames

That's not neccesarily how every rebuild works. If you move those guys out, you SHOULD get 1-2 first round picks back. Those with your own high first rounder, should be used to load up on centers. Draft your own top tier center, that unfortinatly how 90% of teams have to get one.

A first round pick and a good prospect seems fair to me

Is Buffalo desparate to make a move to make the playoffs now? Does something around Myers make sense?

- Lahey

I think Myers and a 1st might bring in JBo. I think that is what Feaster is looking for as a return for JBo; a younger player with less $$ that can be a top 4 D.

It feels like I'm breaking news sometimes, everyone wants more offense. I just don't get every Pens fans infatuation with a winger for 87/71. They score more than enough, play defense. Despres is a 5/6 right now. He gets put in favorable situations and does well. He isn't a 2/3 yet. Their priorities should be bottom 6, and a 2/3 dman to play with Letang.
- bri29smith

Shero is the one who feels Crosby needs an upgrade. I have no doubt what this team needs is Scuderi/Gill like pairing. In the playoffs this defense will get eatin alive. I have zero faith in Niskanen, Engo, and Bortuzzo, I think Despres is the best 5/6 I've ever seen. It will come down to Fleury in the end.

Do Flames fans hate Hudler yet?
- houseofcards74

Love him!! The guy has been solid and creative. I was reluctant when they picked him up but it has worked out. Maybe it's reflective of our team, but he has been consistently one of our best players.

I'd rather have Glencross and his cap hit for 2 more years. Shero's on record that he won't trade one of his best prospects for a rental. I don't see him parting with Morrow, Maatta or Pouliot.

not sure if you're joking....but i dont' think there is ANY CHANCE iginla gets that much as a rental...which he would be

He's old. The reason Canucks wont get much for Luongo is the same reason a team wont get a ton for Iggy. He's towards the end of his career.

Atleast in Luongos defence, goalies can easily play into there forties. But I just think Iggy has lost a step. And it doesnt help that he plays on a team that is so awful. Its probably making his talent level decrease even more.

None of this is meant to be a trolling comment. Simply an opinion. Calm down people.

- vancity787

The reason VAN won't get the best return on Lou is because of his contract, not his age. Not to mention that your GM has painted himself into a corner by signing Schneids before trading Lou. His current age is no an issue. 5 mil for, what, 8 more years is the issue.

I just dont get the whole Iggy and Crosby played well together in Vancouver thing? Aside from the overtime goal (which Iggy did all the work), Crosby was not very good at the olympics. Average.

I'd rather see him go to Philly or somewhere unexpected like San Jose. They also have some peices that would be good coming back Calgary's direction.

- Iggysbff

Like who? San Jose has no prospects expect Hertl and I don't think his ceiling is that high. I also don't think SJ would want to move players off their roster. Same with Philly, they would have to part with a young roster player to get Iggy and I don't see it happening. BUt then again, Homer does some crazy things.

There are other teams with better prospect pools, but I dont see him waiving to go to a non contender. I just dont see the fit in Pitts unless its a rental and let him walk after the playoffs.

No Pitt wont move Sutter & I dont think we move both Iggy & JBO in the same deal. We need to get 1st in both separate deals. I dont see Kipper traded unless we did do a deal with Ottawa for Gio or JBO & got Bishop + back. Dont really need Bishop until we see how Kipper holds out, we may see him on Weds & if not for sure on the West coast road trip. If he plays well, I dont see any Kipper trades this year or covet any young goalies, Feaster will wait to see what he has in Ramos.

Iggy to Pit is too storybook & extravagent to happen. Boston is the team that screams a deal, they have like 10 mill cap space, they are short on RW, they are a top contender, they have excellent young centre prospects. If Feaster could pry a 1st & Spooner & Knight for Iggy plus a 3rd or Iggy + Butler, I'd do it. If Hamilton were available, wow Spooner, Hamilton & a 2nd for Iggy would make me a happy man.

I agree and I think that is why Iggy is such an attractive piece for Shero. He doesn't have to worry about fitting him in under the lowered cap next year. I'm sure he will try but in the end, if they win this year, no biggy.

As for Shero saying he won't part with his prospects, he has enough good young D prospects I'm sure he will 1 or even 2 for a chance to bring home the cup.

I agree with Lahey, trade for Iggy and Johnson and PIT wins the cup.

Seeing how many comments a trade talk blog on Iggy generates, it's no wonder that sports writers make up these silly rumors; guess they have bills to pay too.

I would love to get Hamilton but I'm pretty sure he is an untouchable. IF he were involved, I doubt we get more than a 2nd as well as Hamilton.

I understand that. That is why I said with top 6 potential. A guy like Spooner in BOS for instance.

Canuck fans commenting on player trade value... after the "summer and fall of Luongo"...

not to worry... I think the Canuckleheads had Luongo garnering two roster players and a couple of high picks at one point.... that should tell you all you need to know.

I believe Mr Iginla would garner a pretty healthy return, mainly because whoever he was going to go to would want to know that he would resign... and my guess Mr Iginla wouldn't go somewhere without making a verbal commitment to do just that.

He's still an elite player, no question. Unfortunately he seems to have lost his zest for playing to a certain extent.. which isn't surprising.

Ah I see. That makes sense. That would be great. I think the focus point should be using this years draft pick to try and nab a great center. There's a lot of them. Couple that with a good prospect would be a good start to rebulding.

Why would he want to walk after the playoffs? That makes no sense. Are you talking about his potential to make one final pay day in the open FA market?
