Morrow or Maatta and 1st should be the Flames target from Pit.
- tomburton99

i think maatta and a 1st is a lot, that maatta kid is gonna be GOOD.....was projected to be at or near a top 10 pick going into teh draft last year.

Personally I think its too much. That would be fair 3 years ago. Buts his stock has gone waaayyy down. And they are not going to get the return for him that they're hoping.

i think people are forgetting that if iginla goes to pitt or bos, it's likely as a rental player.....i don't think either team will have teh cap space to extend him.

that greatly reduces his value in a trade, IMO. i think a 1st and good prospect is about all calgary can expect to get for him.

Well Feaster did think RoR was a #1 center, so target B.Sutter.

Do Flames fans hate Hudler yet?
- houseofcards74

No , he has been one of the hardest working flames this season. Not sure if that is a good testament for Hudler or shows how bad the rest of the team is?

pitt can't afford perry, unless they just bring him in as a rental and let him walk at the end of the year.

in order to resign him, they'd need to let go of a lot of roster players, and basically run with 2/3 of their defense as rookies next year.

won't happen

Great point. Not sure what i was thinking? Just woke up.

That would make the Penguins lineup worse, so no. More likely would be Pouliot/Maata, Kennedy, 1st. I still think this is way too much for a rental of his age, but the Penguins time is now so if that is the price then do it. Iginla would replace Dupuis on Sid's line, and Dupuis would slide to Kennedy's spot, which is ideal.

You seem to talk about the Pens like you know something but you're off quite a bit. Perry could be a Pen long term and all they would have to do is buyout Martin. Do I expect that to happen? No but the Pens have a very good GM.

You will not get Sutter in that deal. He is too good and too young for this. Not for a rental, your words.

I wouldn't mind Morrow or Derrick Pouliot but Maata seems too one demensional to me.

Pouliot and a 1st.

Also not sure why people think that Iggy would be a rental? If he is traded that means he wants to win a cup. Pretty sure Iggy understands that to be on a cup contending team he would need to sign for less money. I could see him signing a $4 million a year contract with Pitt.

No offense bud, but if you're going to go up on a high horse about Pens knowledge, you might want to think twice. They lead the league in offense. Their defense has been very poor. Martin has been arguably their best defenseman consistently all season. Why would they buy out their best dman on an already poor d unit, to add offense to the best offense in the league? Do you want every game to be 7-6? Their team is now built long term on 87, 71, 29, and hopefully 58. The rest are trying to find the best role players for the money available. They don't need another building block in Perry.

Sounds like a jaded assumption. He's been .8ppg -1 ppg over the last four years including this one and he's considered one of the most consistant scorers in the league... not even taking into account his leadership. His stock is just as high but he is not getting younger.
- saneopinion

He's old. The reason Canucks wont get much for Luongo is the same reason a team wont get a ton for Iggy. He's towards the end of his career.

Atleast in Luongos defence, goalies can easily play into there forties. But I just think Iggy has lost a step. And it doesnt help that he plays on a team that is so awful. Its probably making his talent level decrease even more.

None of this is meant to be a trolling comment. Simply an opinion. Calm down people.

what happens after next year, when they need to resign malkin, kunitz, sutter, and the ENTIRE defense (assuming you buy out martin)....they have only 5 players signed beyond next season, and it accounts for like 40% of the cap. if you assume that malkin gets ATLEAST the same as he's making now, and another 7-8 for perry.....thats' 7 players taking up roughly 60% of your cap, and NOBODY signed on defense. i realize your gm is good, but he's not THAT good.

Also why I said NO I don't expect it to happen. You're not breaking any news about the Pens not being a great defensive team but it doesn't help that one of the best D-men (Despres) plays every 3rd game while depth defenseman get 20 minutes a night but you addressed that already too yesterday.

Colin Dambrauskas: Sidney Crosby and Jarome Iginla?...Yikes.
- Colin Dambrauskas

I just dont get the whole Iggy and Crosby played well together in Vancouver thing? Aside from the overtime goal (which Iggy did all the work), Crosby was not very good at the olympics. Average.

I'd rather see him go to Philly or somewhere unexpected like San Jose. They also have some peices that would be good coming back Calgary's direction.
