I see 2 years with the Isles, and he looked great before that,,,,,, not...
He is one of those players that was given a chance and they took off, it happens. But time will tell. |

And it really has to be judged over a good three seasons since 3-4 years was the considered term. I liked PA for his playmaking ability but there's no way I thought he was a 4 year $4 mil player just because he put up big numbers while playing with two 30+ goal scorers. He still gets to play with an elite forward in Duchene, but does anyone really believe we'd know his name if he never played with Tavares? |

Nope the Rangers threw him away and you are right. Again he is an ok hockey player. He still plays small though and if I remember guys were complaining about that last year when he went into goal droughts last year. That he is inconsistant turns the puck over and over all plays small |

And would we have ever known Steve Thomas if he never played with Turgeon, Or Hogue if he never played with Chicken parm?

That was sort of the point with my partaking in the Chuck Norris facts. There was plenty of venom on these boards for PA until his contract came up. I would have happily had taken him as a 3rd line player but that would have made 4 years and $16 mil unacceptable. I wish Snow had traded him for a 2nd rounder but I don't think anyone saw $16 million coming. |

Of course I'm betting Pittsburgh wished they didn't sign Craig Simpson to that nice contract either...Amazing how playing with the right guy can revitalize, or launch a career.. |

Exactly.. had we lost to the flyers & the Pens had beaten... i beleive it was Buffalo... and we missed the playoffs & drafted Jagr, there is a very good chance he wouldn't have been even close to the player he became. Playing & learning with Mario is/was invaluable.

I actually meant to say Robert Brown rather than Craig Simpson....
Brown put up 49 goals in 68 games in 1988-89 because he played with Mario...he was then traded 3 times in 3 years before going to the IHL for the rest of his career. |
