Why bother being a fan if all you're gonna do is whine and moan? I am a fan of this team, not its record.

It's really hard to win when you keep making the same dumb mistakes over and over again.

Look at line changes tonight. They made at least 4 questionable or bad ones tonight. One was made by a veteran pair-Timonen & Coburn.

The key is how do you correct it? I'm not sure Laviolette has the answers. That said, I'm also not sure that Paddock or Murray do, either. We all know the normal steps-reducing ice time, bag skates, etc, etc. I don't know what will work, either.

i just know what has been tried to this point hasn't been good enough

I believe it was you who said, of this team's mistakes in a prior season, that you "can't fix stupid." Probably have said it more recently, too.

Not sure what that has to do with Timonen ever being 100% healthy.
- stveshdy

Trying to get up to speed, was a Timonen injury announced tonight, or is this general angst over the extension? As far as injuries go, he's played through plethora injuries through each of thee past several seasons, so I don't see it being some big difference. Now, losing a step, that's what I'd be female doging about, if I were the type.

It may well take changing pieces on the roster, too.

However, I have little doubt that Holmgren is spending Pronger's salary on phone bills trying to change the pieces. If the deal ain't there, then other adjustments need to be made.

Line changes did them in tonight. A basic fundamental. My issue with Laviolette is he rarely holds players accountable in game. You don't see players who are playing poorly get benched, or their ice time decreased. IMO that is one way to get guys attention. If a player is playing poorly and there is no penalty for it, why would he change?

I think the team has been poorly coached at times this year, I'm not one for wanting to fire the coach, because I do not think there are better alternatives, interim or long term.

Always does. First you get the sheer, out and out trolls, then the "I told ya so" clowns that multiply after a loss. Then there's the sarcastic ones that think any kind of optimism is being a Kool-Aid drinker.

Whole lot of folks that make Lindsay Lohan look stable

You'll overcome a 2 or 3 goal deficit to win on Thursday and everything will be right again...until next game.

It is. But it's also tiresome to constantly moan about it. If I got as much pain from this team as it seems a lot of posters do, I'd stop watching them.

One reason I'm fast becoming an advocate for a coaching change is that, they have onhand, two excellent teaching coaches that work well with young players. If they're going to miss the playoffs, I'd rather it be with the kids learning how to be better two way players and learning to attack both ends of the ice.

On Rangers broadcast John Giannone Rangers "Between the glass guy" said Staal was hit directly in the eye, and was taken to the hospital. Update coming tomorrow.

Yeah, the still shot I saw seemed like it got him in the eye...I hope he's ok. That kid's had a tough go with the concussions and now a potentially bad eye injury.

Just a hunch, shortened season, injury plagued, I think Laviolette gets next year, with some new pieces to right the ship.

Scary stuff. I'd be more worried about the state of his career than how long he'll be out this season.
