Really? Because he was doing these things before he even got to Buffalo. Before he made it as a full NHLer. Goes to show how much you "think" you know. To me, the worst part of these hits is the 5 Minute Major. Put 4 minutes up on the board if it's that bad, but for it to be a 5 minute major, the player who got hit (Richards) shouldn't be allowed to play the rest of the game. It's absurd to hand out a major penalty when the player who got hit only misses a shift or 2.

"playing with an edge" would imply that Kaleta was banging into the boards WITH Richards...fighting for the puck, aggressively fighting and banging to WIN THE PUCK...he coasted. He snuck in behind Richards and premeditatedly shoved him from behind. It's the worst of the worst, totally, unequivocally premeditated.

True, I don't know him, but I know guys who do. It's also the Matty Cooke situation (who I DO know)... It's just too many times that these things happen intentionally. Enough is enough.

And yeah, coaches and agents absolutely INSTRUCT their guy to do charity work etc. I have had BOTH coaches and agents even hand me a list of ones they thought were good ones...so now I'll flip the convo on YOU. WTF do YOU know about what agents and coaches tell their players?

I never said that he hasn't done things wrong. If you go back and read, which you obviously don't know how to do, you would see that I said he's made mistakes.

kaleta is a solid person. i was at a bar with my brothers wife and her friends for her birthday. kaleta and gaustad came up and sang happy birthday to her and then party with us. bought us drinks all night then invited us back to his house to keep drinking. we had a blasts. totally down to earth and genuwine dude.

another cool kaleta story.....jambo in the hills 2 years back, my buddy has sun burn on his feet (dont ask me how) well he gets stuck far away from the camp site so patty kaleta comes up to him and asks him if something is wrong. he explains his situation and kaleta piggy back carrys him bout 10 minute walk to the camp site.

Crap, just agreed with a Flyers fan.

Kaleta didn't really have the strength to deliver a good hit on Richards. These 5 games off will do him some good. Get some rest, let him refocus and pick up his foot speed. Then he can really crack some skulls.

Really because "playing with an edge" has nothing to do with banging into the boards with anyone. Danny Briere plays with an edge which is why he was suspended back in the day.

This^. This is why I'm fuming about the decision on the Major. It was going to be called a minor before he flopped around like an over paid fish and threw his gloves and needed a defibrillator to save his life. So they kick Kaleta out of the box and call it a major. Low and behold Richards misses 8 seconds of game clock

Disagree...he didn't miss a shift

I know he's a repeat offender, but I don't find it overly egregious. Sure, no one wants this in the game but it's all happening pretty quickly, etc.

However, I feel suspensions are almost always too weak in the NHL. People act like a couple games is a lifetime instead of 1/41st of a normal season.

So, I don't mind 5, but I lean toward more games across the board.
