To date nobody on the Sabres defense has received th more offensive zone starts or faces easier competition than Myers this season. He plays sheltered minutes.

With Ruff gone, perhaps it changes. It will have to.

Yea seems accurate... he averages over 20 mins a game so I am assuming that is againsy nothing but 3rd n 4th liners...

Just because he is 6'8 doesnt mean he has to be a physical guy... he is offensive..

Does anyone think that Myers had a poor offseason work out got hurt and never recovered from either? I think he thought the NHl wouldnt play went over to Europe didnt condition and has had to scramble ever since?

Myers was a better skater and a better puck handler the first day he showed up in the NHL, better than Chara will ever be in those areas. Outside of their height, their development paths couldnt be more different.

Chara had to learn how to skate for 6 years. Myers moves just fine given his size.

The issue with Myers is something you cannot coach/teach, the willingness to play physical and be an imposing force.

I think you can probably put 50% of players in that category. But others have picked up in season condition a lot quicker than Myers it appears. I think he will get a firm sit down with the Sabres brass after the season to talk about off season workout and condition.

in todays game there are more guys overpaid than not. its the state of affairs i guess.

i honestly NEVER think about how much vanek or miller make because they have been good. theyre here. theyre our guys. were not cash strapped or up against the cap...

Then we disagree. It would be harder to replace Vanek then either Miller or Pomminville. In my opinion, Vanek is the only elite player on this roster. He can take over a game. Pomminville is a solid team player who puts up good numbers. Vanek is an absolute game changer. When he is on top of his game he is top 15 in the NHL. I think he lacks consistency, and gets banged up a lot do to his style of play. As for Miller, he is a slightly better then average goalie.

yup.

such a gamble. if he would have actually panned out as a center (like he said he was) it would have been viewed as an incredible move and hed be a bargain. for that i applaud the balls to make the move- much better than the no moves galisano era.

but alas it was a big miss (so far anyway)...

Vanek also has the ability to be a "game changer" As proven in multiple games this season. Myers has yet to prove he has that ability. He'll have 6 1/2 more years to prove everyone wrong though.

You have to give Myers more time to develop, remember he is only 22 years old and if you recall how bad Chara was the first 4 years of his career with NYI and Ottawa. Everyone wants Myers to be like Chara and he is not, two different type of players and Myers simply needs to figure that out.
