what would you guys say to Pominville and a 1st for Perry
- qcstudios

Quite a fair deal offered by QC. I think Anaheim would definitely think that one over.
From the Sabres perspective, that pick needs to be conditional on Perry signing an extension of course.

I wouldn't be super interested becaue at best what is Perry going to bring, 6 moal goals a season? Are we six goals from winning the division? not really. Can Perry bring the all around game like Pomminville? Not sure about that. If I were Buffalo I would be focused on who takes Hecht spot next year. Get a good value player that can gaurentee you 20 goals next year and keep Pommer. That would be a net gain of 18 goals seeing as how Hecht will likely score 2 this year.

Well being Perry scored 50 and in the same season Pominville scored 22, I'd say at best he can score 28 more goals than Pommer.

Perry has a Hart trophy, a Cup, and 3yrs younger.

I'd take Perry every day over Pominville.

I can agree with this ruling...but at the same time...how is it that THIS hit receives NO suspension?

Oh....and Gerbe missed quite a bit of time after this hit...not just a few shifts.

Except for three big things...
1) Perry is a free agent at the end of this year, and if he won't re-sign with the Ducks (who are currently a lot better than us), why would he give up his chance to test free agency & stay w the sabres? That just doesn't make sense
2) we have Pommer signed for another year, which gives us more time to extend him or trade him for assets that are under contract
3) Perry, if he were to sign w us will cost at least 2mil more than it'll cost to extend Pominville... And with the cap going down, it won't give us much room to make any other improvements

No thanks,
Although He is a very good player

I know I'm in the minority but I want nothing to do with resigning Pominville.

I think he's pretty underrated
I can see the point of him not being a good "captain" though
If we were to trade him, I am ok with that...
But not for a rental player that might walk
I'd want assets I know are gonna be here for at least a couple years

If that Pominville for D.Brown trade is still available it's something I'd def consider

Kaletta is one of the biggest jokes in the league. Saying that he's changed and refs saying that he's a changed player. He needs a good sh!t kicking by MacLaren or Orr.

Didn't he already get his ass kicked by Mike Brown and was even injured in the ass kicking?

Didn't help.......

And to the people saying because Brad Richards came back onto the ice he was faking.

Not necessarily true. When you get hit head first into the boards awkwardly and in a manner that could of paralyzed you and you immediately feel pain. You are going to be freaked the f$uck out and see a lot of $hit flashing before your eyes and thinking the worst. Until the pain subsides, no one knows how bad someone is injured including the injured person.

In some cases you can definitely say someone has got a flair for the dramatic but when you see a veteran NHL'r who doesn't have a history of it get slammed head first into the boards and in the process resembles a crumpled up beer can......... give him the benefit of the doubt..... well unless you're a sabres fan.

He's a very good player. I wouldn't want to move him for a rental either. My point was one player is a superstar and one isn't. The superstar player can do everything the very good player can but better. To see people hint at things like he isn't much of an upgrade is ridiculous.

The problem with Pominville is age (he'll essentially be 32 to start his new deal, DOB 11/30/82) along with this teams need a culture change from a player personal standpoint. There are reasons why the vast majority of players don't play for one team their entire careers.

IMO to resign Pominville will take 7 yrs to keep his cap hit reasonable. I don't want an almost 39yr old having a 5.5-6 mil cap hit. Same goes for Miller who will be 34 at in July of next year(so almost 41 when his deal would be up). Again IMO you either resign Vanek (he's young enough to get a 7 yr deal and not kill you cap wise) or none of them.

That's what pisses me off. Tavares got absolutely ran from behind by phaneuf early in the season with not even a penalty called.

I'm no Kaleta fan. He stirs up trouble late in games that have already been decided. It's bush league, but what he did happens often in games. It's not his fault Richards went down like a ton of bricks. At the same time, it's careless to even lay a hand on a guy from behind when he is vulnerable so I do see the fault on Kaletas part.

But trust me, if Kaleta did this to schmucko Johnson on Florida, he wouldn't of gotten 5 games.

Pominville did have more points than Perry last year
He actually had more points than A LOT of players ppl consider "superstars" or whatever
Pominville is definitely underrated
But your point about his age is definitely valid
Homer has said LA was interested in a Brown for Pominville deal
I'd do that
Brown is 3 years younger and under contract through next season at a 3.2m cap hit
But if not Brown, someone like him...
I'd want a younger guy that I KNOW can play (not someone so young id still be unsure of), who is also signed for at least 1 more season

Vanek I wanna keep also

Miller is a tough one for me
IMO, he's the real leader of our team and one of the best goalies in the NHL
If we put an actual defense in front of him, I have ever confidence I'd see another Vezina-like season...
I guess I'm ok with trading him... But finding a replacement will be hard, and that's obviously worrisome...
We should be able to get a great return for him though

What of we could do a mega deal with LA for Brown and Bernier?
Pominville, Stafford, Enroth and..... ?
Pick or prospect?
Might they be interested in Regehr or Leopold?

Getting someone like Bernier would make me feel a lot better about dealing Miller

I don't think the Kings are going to trade Dustin Brown or Bernier yet. Bernier has been their #1 the last few weeks. As good as quick is, he might be better. Eventually one of them will have to go. Would the Sens trade within division? Ben Bishop could be a good starter. They have 3 great goalies right now including lehner

Yes. I meant statistically. My mistake. He has given up 1 goal in each of his last 5 starts. All wins. Has played 5 games last 3 weeks. Sutter has said he isn't happy with quick this year recently.

I'd be surprised to see a trade between us and Ottawa
Maybe LA wont move those guys now...
Bernier will be traded at some point
And there is a poster on here that has a contact in the Sabres front office that has said LA was interested in a Pominville for Brown deal last season

Hmmm...
Well I guess we will see. I hope he does, bc the way teams overpay for defensemen at the deadline is crazy...
I'll def take a 2nd and a prospect for him
And we def better trade Leopold

Bernier
5 gp in the last 27 days.

Quick
8 gp in the last 27 days.

Does Bernier have better stats by a mile? Yep, but until he starts more games than Quick in a season he's Quick's back up.
