What I am saying is it shouldn't matter repeat offender or not. The NHL is not any other league - it can have it's own set of rules. It is not the court system, there does not have to be a trial to prove guilt/innocence. If this leage wants to gain on some of the other leagues, it has to be bold and step up and be unique. Answer me this question, Why would an elbow to the face be only 5 games for a 1st time offender and 10 games for a repeat offender? The result could be exactly the same. That is the kind of thinking the league needs.

Because the repeat offender already got 5 games for the first elbow to the face and clearly didn't learn. Do u think he should just get 5 again the 2nd time? What should they do? By not escalating the punishment it only serves to encourage guys to keep being a-holes. Your whole idea is just counter to what you say you want to achieve.

Also, hits like Kaleta have 0 to do with the NHL's ability to close the popularity gap on other sports.

I was just using 5 as as an example. But my entire rant started because the players Union would never sign off on anything like this. I would like to see 15 games for any suspendable play. Look at Torres last year, he was suspended for what 25 games, and then the union got it lessened. Who are the real losers, the fans.

Ok, so the 2nd time, another 15? The point is whatever the punishment is if the guy does it again then he didn't learn and you should try something harsher.

And something like 15, or basically 1/5 of a season for anything is stupid. The hit on Hossa that was dumb but not overly violent or intentional shouldnt cost anyone 1/5 of a years pay.

Milbury and Jonesy are spewing NBCSports propaganda. Boy they really but that one hard. Kaleta is "slow" at picking up on these plays? He's yet to be suspended for a play like this. He'll I can pull video of all star defenseman cross checking players from behind in board battles.

The league has to stop suspending based on name and start suspending the act. Jamie Benn came off the bench to two hand a player on the back the other day. He was only fined. Why?

Still boggles my mind that Benn didn't get suspended. I see no difference between what he did and what Clowe did. Late in the game, came onto the ice just to go after a guy.
