Trade Martin at this point would be the stupidest thing Shero could do. Since he's not dumb...

The real question should be why this move wasnt made sooner. Even if they didnt think Malkin or Martin would be back so quickly they knew they would be back at some point in the near future and it didnt appear Boychuk was going to see the ice any time soon. They couldve made this move at any point over the weekend knowing they may need to clear a spot this week and would like to do so without costing BB some game experience.

I hope so, but NHL.com said that room for Malkin was made with the Boychuk move. "To make room for Malkin to come off injured reserve and back onto the active roster, the team reportedly placed winger Zach Boychuk on waivers."

I am pretty sure just putting a guy on waivers takes him off the 23 man roster. Which would make sense, because you can't play a guy who is on waivers. Guys who are scratched can be changed basically right up to game time, once a guy is on waivers nothing can be done with him until he clears waivers, or is claimed.

I can't find the part of the CBA that addresses this either... But like you said, while in the waiver period, the player can't play or be traded, so taking up a roster spot at that point isn't exactly "fair". I don't know...

Well I am glad to hear that atleast. Still not being handled appropriately, but atleast they didn't send him down for good.

Give it 2 years, Teddy Bleuger will be our #1 offensive prospect. I heard good things about him at training camp and he just came out of high school. Let him build his size in college and I think he will fit in our top 6
