Lindy Ruff's available...

I'm all for benching Kenndy and Glass. Those two drive me up a wall with their level of play this year.

If Bortuzzo plays over Despres, I'm going to goddamn scream. I have no idea what the hell Bylsma's doing. Just like the game against Montreal, and him playing Vokoun over Fleury. That boggled my mind. He's just making some real ridiculous decisions that have no rhyme or reason behind them.

But hey...at least Geno's back tonight.

on Lindy Ruff lol

I don't mind Glass playing... he's obviously not contributing to the scoresheet, but he kills penalties and throws some hits. Most importantly (unlike TK), he's not hurting the team.

Barring a complete meltdown at some point, Despres should not be taken out of the lineup again this season.

We should roll Sutter/Jeffrey on the 3rd line ALWAYS. They are both dynamic players.

What pisses me off is that Bennett and Despres being healthy scratches doesn't help their development at all. If your going to make Despres and Bennett a healthy scratch for 5 games then at least send them back down to continue to play. If you are going to keep Bennett with the big club, then he has to be playing every game

Exactly...return him to WBS now if you're going to scratch the kid...
- Orpik44

Yes... making him watch from the press box really does nothing for him. Get him back down, playing 20-some minutes a night, and burying pucks.

Hell, bring up a third liner from WBS in exchange to play for TK. There has to be someone gritty down there who will come up, be all excited, and provide a spark on that line, at least for a couple of games.

I think the defense just needs to play tighter and limit angles and shots. It is not impossible.

Haven't seen Megna play, but is he gritty?

The way Orpik has played (so slow) we are not going anywhere. He's a key piece and needs to be better. Off course he's not the only problem we are having but he's the leader on D.

Not big but with good skills. Seems to play a two-way game well.
How about Sill?Would like to see him on the 4th line replacing Glass just for a few games to see how he goes.

Megna's numbers:

2012-13 Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins AHL 38 3 5 8

He sure is not putting up the points..

It seems like he does best with having a partner who is positionally sound (Gonchar & Martin). Maybe he is just not good adjusting to when his partner plays off the script like Letang does so much. With Martin out, Niskanen or Eaton would probably be good partners.

Megna seems to be a guy with all of the skills, that just can't put it together yet. Hopefully it's just "yet".

How can a reasonable person think Tyler Kennedy deserves to play tonight ? Shocking lack of awareness by coaching staff, IMO

TPB Derek‏@TPBderek

All can say what you want. Country club back in Pittsburgh locker room. Certain players rewarded for being veterans

After thinking about these two twitter posts, I am inclined to agree with them. There is no punishment, more than a missed shift or two (and they usually are not veterans, but young players) that are getting punished. I hope this isn't the case though

Is there any chance Kennedy holds out as an RFA, Feaster throws a huge contract at him; Pittsburgh doesn't match and gets a first and a third for him for the 2014 Draft? Feaster is an idiot, so ...

Lol... I wish...

Remember, he makes $2 mil, so they'd have to offer him that just to qualify him. No way he is turning that down.

Somebody will pay him $2M + next year. Hopefully it won't be us. I see Florida/Buffalo/Minnesota/Nashville doing it.

The more likely scenario is the Penguins not even qualifying Kennedy like they did 2 years ago

Kennedy can be used to be added to a deal to make it slightly more appealing. He has proven to be a 3rd liner. I was hoping Shero uses Kennedy in a deal for Iginla.

I agree... maybe Shero tries to get him to sign a much cheaper deal, or just lets him walk on July 1st.

Probably wont happen. You cant qualify him at 2.2 million. So he will likely go to free agency where someone will outbid us, since at this rate he has less value to the Pens

You people seriously want to fire the coach of a team who is winning their division half way through a season? Because of who he plays/sits on the third line and third d pairing? The "fire Bylsma" bandwagon makes it embarrassing to consider myself a Penguins fan. Another first round playoff loss, ok, you have to give him a look over. But if you fire the coach of a first place team now, you'll be laughed at throughout the league.
