The issue has more to do with having defensemen with a right handed shot who are playing better than two vets playing on their off-side or forcing someone else to do the same in order to get them into the lineup. Right handed defensemen are going to be a hot commodity this month. Winnipeg has a bunch and I know they're looking to make the most of them.

I actually kind of like Mike Brown. He's added toughness, forechecks pretty relentlessly. The Leafs have better players to use in his roster spot, and that's all that needs to be said. Trading him isn't going to make any difference whatsoever. To us, or the Oilers. Best of luck Mike. Grow that Stache back!

Bitter and sweet moment. Sad to see Brownie go and happy to see Frattrain back. I think Nonis proved again his melon is screwed on tight to his shoulders. Only the right moves since he took over. I hope he does the same at the trade deadline. We are still in rebuild mode, so youth for youth and trim the fat aka vets with horrible contracts that no longer fit the identity of this club.

With all the depth and RC system as backbone of this franchise, I could confidently say, the Leafs have a bright future and they finally have arrived.

Then trade the two fourths for a third. Then their third and that third for a second. Then that second and their second for a first. That first and their first to the Islanders (they love trades like that), for a top first. Win the lottery, draft Seth Jones/Nathan Mackinnon, and all is good.
