Simmonds is in the first year of a six year deal. He's the last person we need to worry about re-signing.

- BringBack25

Actually his new deal doesn't start until next Season. But you're point is still the same.

What you're overlooking there is that they also are going to have to replace Timonen.

No I'm not.... That's what the 2 buyouts are for. I'm just not pannicking about resigning schenn, coots, and g. Personally you know I'd trade off coots for that #1 dman because I don't think having 3 centers is more necessary than 2 centers and a top pairing dman. Keeping in mind Laughton and cousins are in the minors.

Also... I've said it before I think homer finds a 'legal' way to use a compliance buyout on pronger which would be a bonus. Flyers are shady like that. We shall see.

Give an example of how Holmgren finds a legal way to use a compliance buyout on Pronger?

And with the two buyouts, whoever they are, that would be two more players that need to be replaced. So again the same thing applies.

Lets just buy out Bryz because he has never won a cup so we can trade for a guy who has never been a starter.

Buyouts aren't a solution to replacing a player. Surely they make cap room, but they also represent another player you'll have to replace.

As for Pronger, not a chance they find a way. I guarantee it.

damn, so you're telling me that we're stuck with Simmonds for this year PLUS six more?

my bad. we're so screwed...

no way we'll be able to get that young, inexperienced goalie now.

Ex... Find a couple docs that will clear him to play... Have him show up to camp ready... Buy him out.

Briere needs to be replaced? We can't find a line for him as is. That's $6.5 million right there.

In the case of Briere, they have at least two candidates on hand, which is the primary reason I advocate using a compliance buyout on him. He's keeping Couturier and Schenn from assuming larger roles.

We've got Read as trade bait. He's just a luxury! He's like that fancy dancy throw rug the Wife has in the bathroom. Looks great, but completely unnecessary. A simple towel thrown on the floor will do the same job.

We have to get rid of him while his cap hit is still manageable!
