Brown is great in his role as an energy guy who will fight, and I always thought was an excellent, fast skater, and he's an animal...it's too bad but for once the Leafs having to trade guys to open up roster spots for better players, I'm not going to complain

I'll be cheering for Brown to do well and bring some grit that opens up space for the Oilers young forwards, thus helping them into the playoffs and turning the pick in the trade into a 3rd

He's also good defensively, they dropped the ball on that one.

I heard they didn't sign him because Joe Colborne beat him in a foot race......now I'm just asking for it aren't I. Frenchie, you normally come down on 20 year old PPG WHL players, the floor is yours.

They swear that Carter Ashton is a power forward and yet Nicholls put up 30-40 goals three years in a row in the WHL and has a big frame and goes unsigned.

I agree totally, I also think Kamarov took his spot without the fighting, Maclaren replaced that. It doesn't hurt that we have Hamilton on the Marlies either who plays a very similar game if we are ever lacking it.

Just to continue being a wiener.......
Correct me if I'm wrong....James Reimer is back right? And he got hurt after Kiprusoff got hurt right? Just one question, why isn't Kiprusoff playing yet? I thought he was supposed to heal faster because he was more flexible.

Maybe because Kipper's 187 years older?

Nicholls is quite a bit smaller though, he has way more offensive upside though.

Shouldn't be. Nicholls was putting up great numbers and seemed to get ignored by the Leafs.
- Two_For_Truth

they had 50 contracts already. No room for him. Few other guys making the jump next year.

cause he's older, and his injury was more severe?

Oh great thanks.

He's a longshot and in the end it's not the end of the world or even the world of the end, but Devane was signed ahead of him, so gay.

I like the trade. I always thought that betweehn Orr, McLaren & Brown, that Brown should have been the odd man out anyways. Also, in getting Edmonton's 4th pick, this could turn out to be a pick in the top 100 in a very deep draft which would be very good for a 4th liner like Brown.

Yeah, and as much as I always liked Brown, if you're going to have some energy/enforcer guys in the lineup - which Carlyle so far has convinced me is more important than I used to think - you may as well have a heavyweight in that spot, like an Orr or Maclaren who can take on anyone in the league. And full marks to Orr, the way he is skating and forechecking, he played himself back into the league and basically took Brown's job, I gotta hand it to him.

That wasn't said at all. What was said was don't expect Reimer to be out for just one week because Kiprusoff suffered a similar injury and the diagnosis went from one week at first and then became three weeks which is almost exactly what happened to Reimer. Started off as one week, turned into more.

He is an inch shorter. If you want to say Ashton is heavier, fine but adding weight isn't hard to do.

It's just really weird that the Leafs would have acquired or retained certain guys and Nicholls would be told to hit the road.
