Three times in less then two weeks

Great..
So I will ask again what is actually different about the two hits?
Neal had already been suspended once in the league...Harry Z had not.

The hit in Pitts happens every single game, with no call, yet Harry manages to get called on it. He gave him the extra shove. He deserved the call, but that gets let go probably 75% of the time...again it speaks to consistency with discipline in the NHL.

I will tell you again. Three times in less then two weeks. Recent. Fresh in the minds to those who are paid to watch him. Simple.

With Sestito being claimed by Vancouver, I believe the Flyers are at 49 contracts. The Devils waived Bobby Butler today. Holmgren should take a look at this guy. He's showed some ability. He's certainly a more proven player than Wellwood, or Harry Z, and he's much younger and faster than Knuble. I would think he will be claimed tomorrow, wouldn't mind seeing the Flyers claim him and putting him on the fourth line.

He should be given a one way ticket to Adirondack. He has zero discipline. He doesn't offer much of anything at the NHL level. Flyers have an agitator and a physical player in Rinaldo who has been able to harness his emotions. He plays his role very well. No need for Harry Z on this team.

the incident with neal was in the playoffs......a 1 game suspension in the playoffs, like it or not, is equivalent to a 3-4 game suspension in the regular season.

when sens and ducks played in the finals in 06/07, pronger threw one of the nastiest and most deliberate elbows to the head of dean mccammond, and got suspended 1 game. i remember all the analysts and tv crews were saying that if that had happened in the regular season, with prongers history, it would have been like a 10 gamer, but because it was the finals, only 1 game.

same situation with the neal hit vs the hit yesterday.

and yes, obviously the fact that one is a star while the ohter is not played a role. but the "playoff factor" is also important.

I agree completely. You and I spoke about this long before yesterday's game. I'm not surprised and I know you aren't either.

See..this is a well thought out and logical response that I can get my head around..Thanks for posting it.

What do you think of Alfie not getting one game for his crosscheck to the head?

after watching him play 2 years in ottawa, i feel i can answer this for you.........NOTHING makes him better than anyone you have on your roster. the guy was productive when he played on a line with spezza cuz he could tap in perfect passes. the second he was taken off the top line, he was absolute garbage. cant' really pass, not a very strong skater, zero 2-way game, COMPLETELY useless.

If he plays with any smarts or discipline, he would be more useful than the guys the Flyers are using in the role of the 12th forward.

I would rather call up Wellwood if needed. Stone hands, but can motor and not the recklessness of Harry Z.

Sestito is a big guy who can skate and fight. He has a little skill as he showed against TB. I'm not sure what the motivation was to put him on waivers. I would rather have kept him over Harry Z.

Alfie not only not suspended but Proud as heck of his unsuspended cross check to Rinaldos head. If z is not a flyer, He gets 2 games and if alfie is a flyer people are calling for 25 games and want to revoke the franchise. (frank)!

I would prefer Wellwood over Harry Z, and Knuble. Knuble is being overused by Laviolette when he dresses. Playing 12-14 minutes a game is too much to ask of him. He should be playing 8 minutes a game or in the vicinity.

Knuble has taken too many stick infraction penalties, and at times it appears he's skating in mud.

I agree. Flyers have plenty of marginal NHL talent in the Forward area. Plus, we already have Knuble, and McGinn will eventually be back. I'd rather keep some roster flexibility for a possible significant move down the line. Can't claim every player that comes on the Waiver wire.

Again, I have to agree. He isn't an enforcer but in today's NHL, he's the respectable next best thing for today's game. Perfect replacement for the likes of Jody Shelley.

i think he definitely stepped over the line, and i was shocked that he didn't get atleast a hearing and a fine. i didn't expect him to get suspended, based mostly on who he is, and his reputation in the league. in 17 years, that was only his 2nd major penalty and first game misconduct, and he's a star player. the sad reality is that with that resume, and the fact that rinaldo wasn't hurt, a think a suspension was unlikely. that being said, i wouldn't have thought it unfair if he had gotten a game.

another reason why, maybe, he didn't get suspended was that they looked at the situation from the game last night, when alfi got tossed. half a period left, down by 1, starting to come on a little, and sens best offensive player gets tossed. not saying sens would have won, or alfi would have had anything to do with it, but losing him certainly hurt any chance of a comeback. maybe league looked at that and thought it was enough. not saying i feel that's justified, just maybe another reason why no suspension.

The role of "enforcer" is being phased out. Sure there are some really tough guys in the NHL, but if you can't skate a regular shift, it's basically a waste of a uniform.

i'm pretty sure rinaldo's comments after the game last night (about the alfi incident, as well as the hit on lundin) have something to do with alfredsson not really showing any remorse today......just sayin

My main concern with the 4th line is Rusty and Knuble are basically the same player at this point of their careers. Veterans who rely on saavy as opposed to diminshing physical skills. With Gagne now on the team, Rinaldo can really fit in well as an energy guy on the 4th line. Knuble and Rusty together are just a tad bit too slow for my liking, Lava has to do a really good job of spotting them in a game to not get bad match-ups against them.
