So if I am reading this right, why didn't COL find out about him playing and just put it out there that he did play and that any offer sheet would have put him on waivers, therefore stopping everyone from putting in an offer sheet and COL being able to sign him for what they thought was fair? |

Im day 6 in my 6th attempt at quitting smoking, and it gets better, but still a process.
They say 10 and a half weeks is what ppl need to change themselves for the better/reinforce better habits, whatever the vice.
I don't think it is funny making fun of someone who's vice is eating, no different than a heroin addict or an alcoholic or ...
Good for him, and those who say it a 'personal choice' life happens. And hell, lots of ppl work too much and don't take enough time for whatever they need to work on. - FLflames34
Are you serious? You think it is just eating that is the vice that causes what is going on in North America this day and age? Wow. Eat all you want. Or don't eat. The issue is inactivity and sedentary lifestyles. Work too much is such a cop out. People chose to make excuses instead of making time. Every second spent on Facebook, HB, Twitter, surfing the web, watching TV etc, etc, is time that could be spent taking care of oneself. But hey, easier to make excuses and say "its ok cause other people are addicted to stuff too". |

But maybe he is fat because he can't exercise because he is too fat....
It is a vicious cycle. |

Being an Oilers fan, any demise in Calgary's team beings a warm feeling inside.
That is an extension of growing up in Edmonton, there is a rivalery between the two cities most would not understand, unless they were part of it.
HOWEVER, I feel the Avs have been screwed over here big time.
There is NO WAY the Flames make this offer had the CBA been a hard copy that the lawyers could have poured over.
Feaster, whether you want to claim he is incompetent or not, would never have risked two draft picks and the player with that offer sheet.
The league should wipe the slate clean.
I would like to know; Was O'Reilly allowed to be playing in the KHL when he did? |

It is a good thing that Colorado matched for Calgary because they will keep their first round pick considering they don't have a second round pick this year. Their pick will likely be in the top 10 so they will draft someone good most likely. |

no. that was the case under the old CBA, ironically enough - under the old CBA, Colorado would have had to put him through waivers anyway but under this CBA it only applied if a team offer sheeted him. the way the rule works is that the waiver rule applies to UFAs but not RFAs whose rights you own. Since Colorado still held his rights after the offer sheet it did not apply to them but it did to Calgary. - S Kaspar Rollins
I get all that, but if ROR was never offer-sheeted and COL signed him, would he have had to clear waivers then? By offer sheeting ROR, did CGY ultimately help COL get him in the line up without waiver threats? |

Poor poor Avs. Maybe Sherman should've did his homework. The same homework Feaster never did. |

b. I've been piling on Feaster the last two days since the screwup became known but I have seen Flames fans who dislike the guy far, far more than I do. I have always felt he's not as bad as people make him out to be and that his hands have been tied for a few reasons since he took over. also if that's true what Ron said about Bettman not allowing this to happen to Calgary had it actually gone through, it softens the issue. the only thing I am certain of is that Feaster wasn't the only one who screwed this thing up
all I try to do is be realistic, because I prefer bracing myself and being surprised on occasion to talking myself into stupid stuff then having my hopes crushed

If you recall the situation we were in with Sutter. Our issues were, no cap space, no goalie prospects, stajan's new useless contract, etc etc.
He has taken some gambles, (Comeau, Jankowski) but I have yet to see something of Sutter's horrible future thought. In fact I was really happy Calgary stayed out of the Suter/Parise sweepstakes and went after Wideman and Hudler instead. We got them early while several other teams had them as their plan B option.
I feel like I'm in a relationship and when things aren't perfect.. I remind myself of the last relationship I was in, and things don't seem so glum. |

nobody knew, media has been talking about offer sheets for him since the season started. Agent didn't know or he would have advised his client he would end up in Columbus. Colorado obviously didn't know or they would have had him over a barrel in negotiations. In this day and age of twitter in the internet if anyone knew it would have come out before the next day AFTER an offer sheet. The wording in the CBA is so grey they are gonna change it but Gary wants to wait until things die down so he is throwing others under the bus. They rushed to get the season back on and take our money and have a sham of a season...CBA isn't even complete |

That was exactly the confusion with Calgary and the new CBA. Thought he didn't have to clear. |

what i was trying to say, yes. The ambiguity in the CBA involved not whether RFAs had to clear waivers - it said they did not -, but whether they had to clear if they signed an offer sheet as opposed to re-signing. It was clear that re-signing a player would not require him to clear waivers. |
