did he ever say oilers could bring it? But it made sense for you to ask??? - TheNugeIsHuge
no but he is judging montreal talent on how they play in the playoffs... would it not be fair to judge the oilers under the same criteria.... therefor.. other the ebs has any of the oilers shown that they can bring it in games that count. |

I'm not sure if the MTL people are as close to the EDM Oilers as I am, and I'm not so sure all of the OIL fans on this thread go to every game as I do. (every MTL game)
Galchenyuk is the real deal. AT THE MOMENT, he's more of an asset than Yakupov, but quite a wide margin actually. They are in very different situations however. Galchenyuk plays with seasoned vets, he gets benched if he screws up, he is THE rookie focus on the team, he's the "only child" if you will. Yakupov has soooo much more top end potential and is a much better RAW talent, but man, he is terrible defensively, just terrible. It makes me wonder if the Oilers do in fact have too many rookies, all just flying around and not being accountable.
Go take a shift with Markov, Gorges, Gionta, Prust, Moen, etc. and be the only rookie on the ice with 20,000 impatient unrealistic fans watching your every move. Then go take a shift with overly patient Oilers fans watching 6, 7, 8, 9, kids flying around dipseydoodling and trying to be hotshots. "meh, he lost the puck and broke up the play but it looked cool...oh damn, another goal against" "we'll be pretty good later on when he matures".
VERY different situations in my opinion. tough to compare these guys, they're both studs. - JLO961
Exactly. Galchenyuk's never at fault beacue he plays with vets. Yak hasn't been poor defensively since moving on to a line of Smyth and Belanger. Complimenting Galchenyuk on his defensive play is like complimenting Tyler Seguin for being +30 last season. It's because of his linemates.

haha who wants to play in MON? EDM attracted Justin Schultz as a UFA. MON just overpaid Prust as a UFA. Wonder who's more appealing. Whaat a joke. #vivelaseparation - TheNugeIsHuge
This is actually VERY true. I have played with the president's son for many years and the names of players that the Habs go after and lose is crazy. Have you ever notice that no UFA Montreal Canadiens resign? only the RFAs. 7figure discounts for ex-Habs UFAs to play somewhere else is an annual occurance. You will argue that SOME UFAs sign here...but they don't stay. It looks great from the outside, but so many players leave after their first contract. i.e. PK is gone, say goodbye now. |

because of his WJC games? Hall had more points in the same WJC but was younger. RNH just had 15P in 6GP at the WJC. How does Ebs differ from Hall or RNH? |

i think u read it wrong.. gally is held acountable... the oilers are letting their players make mistake and not have to answer. they get the same icetime weather they play well.. or horrible. |

Yeah, I think a few solid vets on the team (get Horcoff the f.... off of this team) that would kick Yak's butt if he has defensive lapses, and then even put him in the pressbox from time to time. It's like training a puppy...negative reinforcement has to come in to the picture as often as positive reinforcement does. (my god do we need the reincarnation of Mark Messier...solves everything) |

not true at all. Krueger wasnt happy with Yak's D play so he's playing about 10-11 minutes a night now.
Maybe watch an oiler game before you comment. |

I would actually be VERY interested to see this Oilers team in the playoffs. I sometimes wonder if they're having too much fun. If they were desperately affraid to make a mistake, I really wonder if they would shoot more, skate more, smile less, work harder. I would love to see these highly skilled young rookies play high-percentage hockey. I don't think they have done that since 2006.
IT . IS . ALL . ABOUT THE PLAYOFFS. What planet are you from???? |

but he's still playing... if he played like that on montreal he would be on the 4th line or watching from the pressbox

playing like what? He's a rookie, and he was playing with defensively poor forwards. Yak'd most certainly not be playing 4th line in MTL. If he was put in the position Gally is, the only difference is he'd be producing more. |

Yeah, you are correct derm, that's what I meant. I think Galy is in a great situation. Switch Yakupov onto the Habs and it would probably be the same thing.
Whoever said Yaks is player better defensively has had tee many martoonies |

so do the 2011 canucks not have good playoff experience because they didn't win game 7? winning or not doesnt change one player's ability. |

Must be a pretty useless trophy considering how many Oilers are in the HHOF. |

Ryan Nugent Hopkins was the RUNAWAY winner of the Calder, and then he got hurt. One can argue that "he still didn't win" but your argument is based on talent...and not on health. He won the trophy until he got hurt...i.e. the best player. Sorry, I'm not a win by default kind of guy. There is also a bit of an argument there for Taylor Hall. |

Galchenyk loses because of extreme "ladyboy" looks. If he doesn't make it with the Habs he has a career in Montreal erotic massage waiting for him. |
