if ther are evenly skilled players then it is a simple choice... gally is the better two way player.. and if they are evenly skilled then i would conclude that gally is the better player. - derm10

@derm10 - Congratulations on pissing everyone off with simple one-liners. To everyone else, he's just playing Devils Advocate and feeding off your guys anger. Yes Edmonton is not a good team right now; who doesn't know this? |

so then who is the expert? - derm10
if we're attempting to try and model our franchises around successful ones in the current climate, id say pittsburgh and chicago would probably be the benchmarks.
boston and vancouver can probably be involved in the conversation too.
certainly NOT the montreal canadiens though.
the oilers have tons of holes and deficiencies obviously, but id say the oilers rebuild or model is closer to the aforementioned than mtl's by a country mile.
at least the pattern theyve attempted to emulate anyway. |

I haven't found anything convincing. I thought Galch was slightly better in junior at defense, but seeing both play at the NHL level and looking at a few other metrics, I don't know if we can say Galch is the better 2-way player with confidence.
I'm not allowed to argue? Guess I should just quit the internet. |

i never said montreal franchises was one to model around.. i just don;t think edmonton is ahead of montreal.... montreal has more established pieces in more defencsive roles..... u have to tak into account that pitt and chicago have elite talent.... the oilers have gotten a few lottery picks.... but none have shown the same level of skill or determination as kane toews malkin or crosby. |

im not angry at all.
blind nonsense hate and gloating happens all the time.
and increasingly from habs fans recently cause theyre doing well.
good for them. but i have no illusions that they are nowhere near a real contender.
a perenial contender is my definition of true success, and that\s what im hoping from the oilers. time will tell.
as far as galchenyuk, he looks great. im a fan. but yakupov is also a jaw dropping talent.
the only thing about gally that gives me pause over yaks, is that hes a decent sized centermen, something we could use. but his +- in 20 games in their rookie season relations to yaks isnt even worth mentioning imo |

Plus-minus is related to team success, partially influenced by Galch, but if you were reading the past few pages like you told me to do, you'll see the plus-minus stat was "refuted". Kinda like how anything other than Gally > Nail defensively was supposedly "refuted", and it wasn't. |

and both teams had well established defence core before they because a contender.... oh an may i remind u that whitney was once a prized piece of pitts rebuild.... they had to let peices go to trade and take the next step.... good thing they kept letang and traded whitney.... could be a different story if trade letang and keep whitney. |

fire management... after that u need to evaluate talent.. and rather quickly..... hard to take back the last 3 years of sitting idle.... but u need to turn players in an area of strength into a player to help out there needs..... and yes u are gunna have to give up at least one if not 2 of the untouchable 6. |

ebs got 30+ and 76 pts in his sophmore year
hall was on that pace too before his injury. he had 26 in 60 games. and is a ppg this year too.
these pt totals are very close to toews and kane at the same points in their careers. i think ebs actually outscored both of them last year.
how do u measure determination?? have u ever seen taylor hall play? thats a ridiculous statement.
malkin and crosby might be the 2 best players in the world, so no ones as good as them prob, but to write off ebs for no other reason than ur personal opinion doesnt hold alot of weight. |
|

how's your mom doing - Reveen
horrible..... she has been depressed for year... but then again she is an oilers fan. |

keith and seabrook needed some time to develop. 2 players in which they drafted.
i think ur forgetting how bad and for how long the hawks were terrible.
the pens had 5 lottery picks in a row |
