Galchenyuk is a good player.. Montreal got a good player with him... but I don't think you can compare the two...

Gal to me is more like a Kovalev.. big, size, hard on the boards....

Yaks is more like Bure.. pure speed... sniper and a wicked one timer..

Just depends on team needs and such... If you wanna look down the road in about 3 years purely statistically from an offensive side, Nail will put up more points.. he's just more of a pure goal scorer.. but Gal will likely be the more all around player because of his physical size and such.

Both are good players.. neither is better than the other.. different styles of play.

this statement make me question ur hockey iq.... at no point in time was kovalev big, size, or hard on the boards

I think they're very evenly skilled players.
- Reveen

if ther are evenly skilled players then it is a simple choice... gally is the better two way player.. and if they are evenly skilled then i would conclude that gally is the better player.

another thing i wanted to point out about ur statement is that bure had an very short career and kovalev had a much longer career... not that i agree with ur gally/ kovalev comparision.

I'll agree with this. Guy like Gionta would be a nice fit in edm. I stated this a few week back and got mixed responses, trade Yaks for the Schenn boys. I know Yaks in great. But Schenn is as well and is gritty. L Schenn adds a young top 4 d.
- Bieksa#3

Gionta is exactly the type of player we dont need

style of play versus longevity... i would think hall is more vulnerable to this then nail... but it wasn;t my comparision.

Yeah and Galchenyuk will be better than any of your top 6. Most balanced player.

You know BALANCE??

Oilers suck right now and will for at least 3 years if the dont change mentality.

- soad_live

Whoa there fella!!!! Im sure 20 games in, u actually believe that too.

This is such a bad post. duded cant be taken seriously after a laughable post like this. just nonsense oiler hate and blind homerism for his team

I like the comment awhile back on the habs fans enjoying a hot start after 3rd last in the previous year, and all of a sudden their experts in building dynasties

You're totally right, Yakupov is a bust. We should trade him to Montreal for Lars Eller while we can.

Hey, could you just list out your points so we're clear what your opinion is. Just one post, so we can get your feedback on the team we cheer for and then move on from this discussion?

i wouldn;t go that far... if u are to trade him ... i would suggest trading for a veteran player.... no point in trading youth for youth... unless u are getting a prooven player back.

Trade anyone on your top 6. Your team is not balanced. You need a number one goaltender. You need a true number one defenseman and you need more grit on the top 6.

You need good veterans to teach young guns how to become veterans.

You won't adress your needs with Paajarvi or other prospects.

Get use to it or suck for 5 years. Oilers need to be good now because they will not afford to sign all your top six in 2-3 years.

- soad_live

First of all, if our top guys suck they will be easy to afford in 2-3 years but 2 of them already have contracts longer than that so not to worry.

We have a great number 1 dman. He gets better every game and this is his rookie year. In Justin we trust. Our defense could use a number 2 guy if we wanted to go now. I think Petry could be that guy in the future and Klefbom after that but for a run this year, one top dman is needed. That and a new goalie and our coach needs help.

I would say a new coach but as a motivational speaker it is amazing to have him in that role. However he should have stayed as the assistant. His theories are sound but he doesn't use them. He spreads the ice time out too much and uses our worst guys (like smyth and belanger) on our PP instead of our best. Which is opposite of how he said he would coach. He doesn't know how to properly match lines on the ice and he has done nothing with utilizing his defenders properly (or checking line). Too often they are out there on offensive chances or thrown with his two most productive players on the second line leaving Nail to play odd minutes. Nail who is among our highest scorers despite his line and ice time.

As for the goalie, sorry for your duby or habby fans but they got to go. They never should have stayed this long. We are developing a career backup which is the team is aware of. Our team plays differently when they don't trust our goalie. Leaving guys behind the net to block shots out front. When habby played we started to see the more aggressive play they could do in the defensive zone and it led to odd man rushes. However with him back they are playing a passive box all hoping to be the goalie. At 4 million we don't need that.

I am going to say it again. Lou at 5.5, 1.5 more and we get a top 10 goalie. Don't know what the asking price is but with vancouver not having any prospects to develop or any second line, we might be able to make a deal.
