Ohhhh don't get me started ha ha. Saw Maiden twice in the 80's at Maple Leaf Gardens, they were the heavy metal of gods of the 80's!!! Love the way Bruce & the mascot Eddie would duel on stage. As far as bad luck Crha, he was a good goalie on a very very bad Leaf team. Poor Crha, he sometimes got peppered with an average of 50 shots a game. One game I remember , the former Minnesota North Stars got like 70 shots on him & they won the game 7-1. Crha, believe it or not, made alot of good saves that night. Geez he kicked out 63 shots!!! I loved his mask aswell.

I've going to see Maiden more recently.....You know, trying to relive my youth and stuff....they are still great.

I also remember Chra coming in for Palmateer for the first time. Chra was lights out.

Being from way up Northern Ontario I was lucky enough to see the Leafs in the playoffs twice in the 1980's
I will never forget getting to see the Leafs litterally beat the Blackhawks with the Hound line. Secord getting destroyed and Dan Daoust beating up Denis Savard.... I was staying at the downtown Holiday Inn and couldnt sleep because the city was going crazy.....

The second time was a classic against Cujo and the Blues. As I was running back to my seat because the period was starting I almost knocked over a smaller man walking out a door. I stopped just in time, barely looked at him said sorry and kept running. He said something along the lines of "Easy big fella". About 10 strides later I realized I almost crushed Don Cherry.

That's the 85/86 one I remember!
Great story about Cherry. But didn't the suit he was wearing give it away? That's what I loved about the Gardens, if you were in the nosebleeds you had a good chance of running into the scratches, and injured players or someone famous. Getting Ken Wregget and Wendel to sign my hat was one of the best memories I ever had at that arena. My pops was a metro cop who sometimes worked the games, so I got to sneak up to the players bench to get to my seats.

Yeah mine wasn't a fan of that trade either. Wasn't because he was swedish or anything, he loved Salming. Just didn't like that it was Wendel being moved. Man, seriously, I haven't thought about those times in a while. Thanks oldtimers for steering the thread this way.

Yeah, he passed away in 2007, dementia and he got MRSA in the hospital. The last 4 years he wasn't himself, was really hard to see him like that. He wasn't a big man in height, same height as me, 5'7, but he was built like a truck when he was younger. My father was 5'11 200lbs, a cop, yet my grandfather had more muscles than him. The past year I haven't thought about him at all, had some other poop my wife and I've been dealing with, that I just haven't reminiced much on the past. Like I said before guys, thanks, it really is nice to go down memory lane.

Man so true, I remember my Mom coming into my room and asking me if I was alright. I had a little black and white tv and was watching the Leafs play the Stars in the playoffs. I think Rick Vaive hit the post and Al Macadam came back to score the eliminator in overtime to eliminate the leafs and i started crying....

Sweet man. My pops actually split grey seasons tixs back then. Face value on those tickets.......$11. $15 for playoffs, and it doesn't seem like all that long ago.

haha sick... last chance I had at a playoff game was against Ottawa the year we lost to Carolina in the conference final.... The tickets were $500 at cost so we decided not to go..... Good thing Ottawa won 5-0 that night...

Was actually in Carolina for game 2 of that series when Mcauley tied it with 6 seconds left.....was jumping like a little girl and hugging my buddy when he scored that. Hoglund missed a glorious chance in OT before a point shot beat Cujo....

Either would work. Berglund would be a good fit based on size/skill/position, a line of him, Kessel and JvR would look very nice. I'm still excited at the prospect of Lupul - Kadri - Frattin

Lupul Bozak Kessel

JVR Grabo Stewart

Frattin Kadri Mac

Komarov Mcclement Orr/Brown/Mclaren

EDIT: I dont know if we need another centerman because we are so congested with centers at the moment which is funny Unless Nonis has a plan to get rid of Grabo or has a deal for him which makes Berglund relevant in a trade for kulemin

I think it is Liles and Kulemin for Schwartz. Or Liles for some type of prospect or pick. Hence the call-up. Are Leaf scouts in attendance tonight? The Blues I think are one of the teams Liles has said he'd never have an issue with going to.

I don't think Nonis is targeting immediate help at forward, not with Lupul and Frattin on the verge of coming back.

The guy here earlier mentioned a rumour he heard, which was laughed at, but this could be another Duxcup situation....I think it was Duxcup....can't remember.

I wonder what it would take to get both Berglund and Stewart?

Prob more than we would want
