Well growing up, Mike Palmateer was my God. Well him & Led Zepp's late drummer John Bonham. Honorary mention goes to Darryl Sittler, Borje Salming, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page & John Paul Jones.
- GCHonda

What about Jiri Cirha, and Iron Maiden?

We saw greatness too...like the return of Carl Brewer and Allstar rookies like Fred Boimstruck. Can't take that away from us.

Just think, no one has EVER r seen the Leafs win the cup in colour, so when that happens it will the first time ever. It will be something we will all enjoy together for the first time.

I got Ken Wregget and Don Edwards, and then Alan Bester and the Norris Division. Got to see some great playoff series in 85/86.....I remember thinking Brad Smith was the Leafs version of Dave Stieb. I had no clue he was a journeyman. Its hilarious how close they came to going to the campbell conference final against Calgary. 86/87 was worse. Up 3-1, (just like the Blue Jays on KC in 85), and then the wings like KC win 3 straight. So close in back to back years.

I don't dislike Ms Upton.. I just don't think she she warrants the attention she gets. Duck Dynasty is not what it seems. Its all done by script. They all have college/university degrees and pretend to be stupid. TV has become so fake that only Hockey and a good drama/comedy is worth watching.. I dont want to see people pretend to chase after a bigfoot or live in a house together and squabble about poop.. I want to be entertained, a good story or well thought out comedy please.

Its hard to believe they were all like 19-22 at the time. Leeman sleeping with Iafrate's wife seemed so wrong back then, but they were like 22 and 23 when that happened too. The 80s were such a weird time to be a kid in, moustaches that made people look older than they were, divorces that seemed so serious, cocaine, wrestling and porn. I love watching classic games from that era just to see the crowds, also reminds me of watching games with my Grandfather. He loved Clark.

Ohhhh don't get me started ha ha. Saw Maiden twice in the 80's at Maple Leaf Gardens, they were the heavy metal of gods of the 80's!!! Love the way Bruce & the mascot Eddie would duel on stage. As far as bad luck Crha, he was a good goalie on a very very bad Leaf team. Poor Crha, he sometimes got peppered with an average of 50 shots a game. One game I remember , the former Minnesota North Stars got like 70 shots on him & they won the game 7-1. Crha, believe it or not, made alot of good saves that night. Geez he kicked out 63 shots!!! I loved his mask aswell.

Remember mine being pissed when we traded Clark for Mats....I thought the trade was good (turns out I was right). I can still picture him saying "he's the heart and soul of the bloody team!!!!"

Being from way up Northern Ontario I was lucky enough to see the Leafs in the playoffs twice in the 1980's
I will never forget getting to see the Leafs litterally beat the Blackhawks with the Hound line. Secord getting destroyed and Dan Daoust beating up Denis Savard.... I was staying at the downtown Holiday Inn and couldnt sleep because the city was going crazy.....

The second time was a classic against Cujo and the Blues. As I was running back to my seat because the period was starting I almost knocked over a smaller man walking out a door. I stopped just in time, barely looked at him said sorry and kept running. He said something along the lines of "Easy big fella". About 10 strides later I realized I almost crushed Don Cherry.

Yeah mine wasn't a fan of that trade either. Wasn't because he was swedish or anything, he loved Salming. Just didn't like that it was Wendel being moved. Man, seriously, I haven't thought about those times in a while. Thanks oldtimers for steering the thread this way.
