Not gonna lie, I feel a little bit sorry for flames fans today when the whole waiver thing came out and having to listen to the trolling. - ruttager17

No whipper, I (frank)ing love you.
and I haven't said anything because seriously, how often do I ever come in here and troll? Plus it is the GM that did something stupid. Would be pretty hypocritical of me to hammer on you guys cause of what uncle feaster did considering the years I have lived though the sh!te K-lowe has done. I love watching calgary lose. Not all this other business bullpoop. |

No, there is another team that has never won anything and acts like they have ten Stanley Cups in their cupboard, yet they have none. Their fans are so ready to criticize other teams and yet their team only made it to a cup final twice in their 40year history.
I think THAT team is the laughing stock of the league... - JLO961
Are Sabre fans that bad? I don't pay much attention to them tbh.
3 teams sorta meet this criteria.
St Louis - 45 years and 3 appearances, no cups
Vancouver - 42 years and 3 appearances, no cups
Buffalo - 42 years and 2 appearances, no cups
Until last year, LA kings had 45 years with no cups and only one appearance.
Washington Capitals are closing in on 40 years and have only one SCF appearance.
Sorry for the ramble but that is a lot of sad teams. |

This is a mute point. Feaster is a lawyer and I'm sure he understands the CBA. Reading Bob McKenzies story on TSN it shows Ryan O Riley on the roster but it doesn't state that he played in either game after the 19th nor was his name even spelled correctly. I'll give Feaster the benefit of the doubt that he had a plan to deal with this. - Flames in 6 04

This is embarrassing. If its any consolation to Feaster, I would have made the same mistake. Also, I don't think other teams made offers to O'Rielly, I think thats the story floating out there to save Feaster's reputation. The Flames were actually in Denver, met O'Reilly and he signed the contract offer.
I was wondering Flames Fans, why don't the Flames do what the Oilers did and go to there retro road whites. The Flames current modern white's have to be the ugliest road jersey's in the league. I think if the Flames played in those retro white's they would look slick! |

It doesn't make sense that the RFA is protected for the existing team, but not for an offering team. It defeats the whole idea of RFA status. - jtommyt
It's only with regards to players playing in other leagues. Supposed to deter them from going to the KHL.
If they are simply holding out ala Subban, then another team could offer sheet them without them having to clear waivers. |

Colorado could work out some sort of incentive (trade) for them not to match as well from CBJ.
Colorado gets the NYR's 1st from CBJ for a mid level prospect & Cgy's 1st and 3rd
CBJ get's a mid level prospect and O'Reilly off waivers
CGY gets a new GM
It's sick but completely legal, teams have worked with each-other involving the waiver wire and trade scenarios in the past. - Steve-B

If Colorado was the 30th place team, conceivably the Aves could of chose not to match, received the 1st and 3rd round pick from Calgary, then claimed O'Reilly off waivers. How Fu@ked up would that have been? The Flames forfeiting a potential lottery pick and a 3rd for O'Reilly to stay put in Colorado. I just thought about that potential reality. This may have been the worst GM blunder in history, worse then then Tallon and the Chicago qualifying offers, and Fletcher signing Jeff Finger to a long term 4 mill per season. I bet the NHL told Sherman to match and said they'd kick in the money for the contract under the table, just to save the leagues reputation from looking totally bush league through Feasters blunder. |

Has the NHL released a statement on the situation? I understand what the press release and the sportsnet articles say... but the NHL didn't officially say one way or the other has it?
I honestly think that the Calgary Flames would have put up a legal fight over this. There was a common interpretation as well as NHL didn't have any knowledge of O' Reilly playing official games after Jan 19th. Yadda yadda yadda.
Am I the only one who thinks that Calgary would have still ended up winning that legal fight in the end? |

I doubt the league cares if Feaster looks like an idiot let alone pay for his mistakes...they let Milbury operate for years. |

Feaster has been fantastic in Calgary thus far. He brought change and optimism as well as the support from the owners and coaching staff.
I'm still looking for an explanation of why the Leafs signed and traded for offensive minded players... and then hired an extremely defensive coach. Is Liles a healthy scratch now? |
