After reading some language Feaster might have had a point.

“All Players on a Club’s Reserve List and Restricted Free Agent List will be exempt from the application of CBA 13.23 Waivers in the case of a mid-season signing.”

The key is it says "a" team. Doesn't say the team that owns his rights.

- Lahey

Seems pretty absurd in reading this that the rule would mean one thing for Colorado and another for Calgary.

What a flipping mess. How Feaster was not fired on the spot is beyond me?

The islanders held the title of "laughing stock of the league". There was really no way of prying that title away from them. Somehow Feaster and the flames managed to do it.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, I hate to do this but Feaster yes, the flames on a whole, hell no. Much bigger laughing stock's in the league than them. And now I need to go vomit and take a cold shower for defending my second most hated team. They used to be the first most hated, till the Canucks decided to finally be good during the age of social media, now they are number one.

This is a mute point. Feaster is a lawyer and I'm sure he understands the CBA. Reading Bob McKenzies story on TSN it shows Ryan O Riley on the roster but it doesn't state that he played in either game after the 19th nor was his name even spelled correctly. I'll give Feaster the benefit of the doubt that he had a plan to deal with this.

Mind boggling how professionals of the sport missed this one entirely. Talk about setting the team back…this would have cost a few jobs and been a never-ending joke around the league, I’m sure.

- Colin Dambrauskas

In light of the near disasterous consequences that could have been, one might think this would still cost a few jobs? No?

The ramifications that would have been felt by this organization could have possibly set the Flames back another 3 years or more.

Wow, what a bunch of bone heads.

For the record as per TSN there were 4 others teams that presented offers to O'Reilly that he turned down.

Aren't the Flames already the laughing stock of the league?
- skriko_forever

No, there is another team that has never won anything and acts like they have ten Stanley Cups in their cupboard, yet they have none. Their fans are so ready to criticize other teams and yet their team only made it to a cup final twice in their 40year history.

I think THAT team is the laughing stock of the league...

If it's for the record, name them.

And get confirmation from their GMs.

For the record, Mike Gillis just said he didn't make an offer sheet.

The flames take "Delaying the enevitable" to a new length.

Moral of the story, you don't (frank)ing understand your club. You grab a glass and pour some whiskey in it.

Not even Howson was ever this dumb!

The fact that Feaster failed miserably in his due diligence and what it could have cost the Flames if the Avs had gone the other way should cost Feaster his job alone. This is beyond ridiculous.

Good luck with the "rebuild" Calgary!
