I could somewhat understand remvoing the backward compatible when they went to PS3. As the had to include more tech in the box to read different discs and they had issues with it in the beginning so they removed it so whatever.

But when your mentality and eventually the industries mentality is to get rid of software in favor for digital downloads, there is no reason not to allow the currently downloaded data from your own store to work on your new machine.

Have you ever heard of system software updates?...

The PS3 of today is light years more advanced than the one from 2006 from updates alone. Who's to say the PS4 will not eventually rectify this problem?

Also, if it's not ever fixed and I want to watch or play anything I bought from the store... guess what?... I'll turn on the PS3.
