why do you think a point or 2 matters so much when we're not even at the midway point??? - muffin_man
true the Leafs collapse will be glorious when they go 7-16-3 to finish season. |

Hey guys,
1 key injury that forces a player to miss 7-10 days means they miss 4-5 games.
The standings can change in a (frank)ing hurry. About the only lock I see at this point is Chicago winning the west, and likely the PT. - golfingsince
and if Emery gets injured? by your theory no one is locked until they are actually locked. |

If Hanzal ever got (frank)ing healthy for more than 2 games straight I'd be more confident.
Getting Frattin and Lupul back should also help the Leafs. |

I guess thats where I'm different from most. I don't see the leading D scorer as the best dman. Hence why I never believed Mike Green or McCabe were aall that great. - muffin_man

See Crawford. Yeah, they aren't actually a lock but they have enough talent and desire to overcome a key injury. |

they should have two awards for defensemen, best offensive and best defensive, because the Norris that is supposed to go to the best all around defenseman usually ends up going to the guy with highest points total. |

17 pts up on 9th. They have a bigger lead on 2nd in the league than any other team has on 2nd in their division.
15pts up on division lead.
Edit: I guess Anaheim is 8pts up on the Sharks. |

Much like how the Hart almost always goes to the highest scorer or the Selke is actually the best defensive forward that can score 60+ points at the same time. |

Thing is, the MVP is generally the player who can score the most points unless a goalie is beyond amazing on a bad team. the selke thing irks me. |

or Iggy the year theo won.
Thats why the Pearson/Lindsay award and the Hart shouldnt always go to the same player. One is best player in the league the other is most valuable to ther team's success... |

i think that the Selke needs to evolve into just that. when it was initially awarded, it was easier to keep track of players as the league was quite a bit smaller and thus you could more easily judge such a thing. but now, with 30 teams in the league, it's impossible. it's really impossible to award any trophy that is not statistically based these days. |

They use takeaways vs giveaways, but you're right, that doesn't tell much of a story.
Basically they'll just give it to Datsyuk/Kesler/Toews, I'd add J Staal, but now that he isn't a Penguin nobody will care about him. |

He's back. I'm not sure if he's playing today or not though, they might keep Emery in there. |
