that doesn't explain if he was offer sheeted, that only shows that the AV's don't need to pass him through waivers - AdamFrench
if he was offer sheeted he would likely have to come up through the Avs organization prior to his rights being transferred to the new team
thats the catch I bet |

im not a flames fan but man oh man i would have felt awful for their team had the avs decided not to match and they just lost him, i mean they wouldnt have even been able to grab another jankowski....plus that would have made all the mike milbury and JFJ moves look like gold - MetroidPrime
I honestly like Janikowski. I go to Providence College so I get to see him on a regular basis. Maybe not 1st round material, but solid prospect in my eyes. Going to see the (4) BC Eagles play (20) Providence College Friars tonight then driving down to FL for spring break. Catching a lightning jets game down there too on wednesday |

So, who's right?
Elliot Friedman or TSN/Sportsnet/Mackenzie? - Leeman4Gilmour
i am going to go out on a limb and say Feaster did his homework and knew what the rules were prior to giving the player the offer sheet
so Mackenzie is right. |

but wouldnt it have been (frank)ing hilarious if calgary gave up the draft picks and then lost him to columbus on waivers? but i guess even feaster isnt THAT stupid... - MetroidPrime
That would have happened had the Avs not matched.
Lucky for Gillis his offer sheet wasnt accepted.

We can only wish. Nino is a big freaking kid, plenty of potential for him. That being said, I don't think we can throw our garbage at Garth and expect him to give us nino. - Fatty-Patty
We didn't suffer enough watching Larry Murphy win a Stanley Cup - anywhere but Detroit. |

Did you watch it in slow motion or game speed? Looked like more than a tap to me, was cheap and dangerous. - Leafland
i have no doubt it hurt and shook him up, but it's not like an elbow or flying on a guy full speed and leaving your feet, plus he was away from the boards. Fights and Icing races are more dangerous than that! but it was cheep |

Garbage? It may not be a prime package we're offering, but they're getting something for this deal.
Komi goes home, they get a prospect(not a great one, might add, but nevertheless) and a 2nd round pick to smooth things over.
If Nino does want out, then he can be had for the right price |

Not where he went., he was more of a 2nd round gamble, like Rocco Grimaldi. |

Mackenzie is saying the opposite of what you think he's saying:
Cal would have had to put him on waivers
Col does not because he is their RFA |

He didn't.
Apparently if the player played in the KHL after the CBA was signed and played past a certain date in January, any team that would have picked up ROR via offer sheet would have had him pass through waivers.
Unless Feaster was doing the Avs a favour (which I doubt), the flames should fire him now. |

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
In other words, in this new CBA, team can sign one of its own RFAs or draft picks out of Europe in mid-season and get in lineup w/o waivers.
.
The Pope has spoken!! - faceto27
The Pope certainly has, last I checked ROR wasn't one of Calgary's own RFAs. He also wasn't on Calgary's reserve list. The only way Calgary doesn't have to put him through waivers is that he would have to be on their reserve list, anyways, I still think its stupid that RFAs are even part of the rule. Encouraging players to stick to their hold outs without letting them sign elsewhere is a form of Collusion. |

Feaster would of made sure he knew the rules before he did it
