Yes - pretty much what Carlyle said last night when he semi lost it on a reporter for asking the same question. He just scored 3 goals with 15 minutes ice time - why would we change that. - Your_Mom
I agree, let the kid build his confidence against the 'easier' players. Ease him into the minutes against other teams top lines so that he doesn't all of a sudden disappear and have half of leaf nation calling for his head.
If he's scoring in the position he's in, leave him there to excel and start tinkering with the minor things in his game... ie faceoffs. |

Harder competition, but also superior wingers and more time on ice.
It's a trade-off. Ideally, when Lupul and Frattin are healthy, they'll be Kadri's wingers, which means better supporting cast, and the same easy competition. That or teams key in on his line, and Kessel's line gets more space.
Either way, a win for us. - Feeling Glucky?
Yes Glucker, play Kadri 30 minutes per game and he'll become the next Wayne Gretzky. |

That is the trade off. Right now, he's creating offense with little help from his wingers. Once in a while Macarthur will bury one of Kadri's sweet passes, and Orr has 3 points (enough said). He would go up against better competition, but spreading out the skill on a line with JVR and Kessel can also help ensure one of them has more room to skate. Tough call, but with Frattin coming back as early as Monday, I wouldn't be upset if Carlyle left things alone with the top line, and Kadri/Frattin. |

If it were only that simple... - Your_Mom
I somewhat understand the logic of playing him less against the other teams 2-3 lines helps build his confidences..blah blah blah. But at what point do you simply say he is currently our best player, and deserves more ice time. Can't hold his hand too much longer. If he does struggle, then cut him back to the current ice time/line. Plus the other teams are going to catch on and start matching their better D against him..that is what they did when Mac/Grabo/Kuli were flying a few seasons ago, and Kessel was struggling. |

you'd think leaf fans would of learned not to even think about playoffs until its been assured
playoff hockey? not even thinking about it here.. i am still approaching it as if i will be drinking on patios while other hockey fans are stuffed inside watching their teams play in the post season
i hope to be proven wrong.. but thats about as far as i am willing to go - Dozzer
I know - they jinxed it. Leafs could still be in the running for Drouin
I have a bunch of early season golf tourny's that I commit to because I've grown used to the Leafs not being in the playoffs. |

Please, tell me where I said anything even remotely homerish in that post.
I said it's a trade-off. More ice-time means more opportunity to get points. There's no denying that. And moving up to the top line means better wingers. That could offset the harder checking.
And I said ideally he sticks to the 3rd line, just with better wingers, to spread the scoring around.

That will be quicker than I thought as he still is in non contact status - sure hope so and he continues to score.
You guys probably talked about this last night, but what's the difference between the Finley hit on Komarov and the Brown hit the night before? Not much in my eyes, and I would think most Leaf fans would have no issue with the Finley hit as there should have been little issue with Browns. Oh well - all in the past. - Your_Mom
Only difference is the jersey the hitter/receiver were wearing and the call that was made.
One is a 5min major, the other goes unpunished. Consistency would be nice. |

It works for him right now. Leave him where he is with who he is. Because Kessel is slumping is not a reason to (frank) around with Kadri. Kessel needs to find the solution by himself. Kadri doesn't need to be put in a situation like that. |

And the linesmen went back to their usual ways of throwing out at least 2 guys at each faceoff before dropping the puck... |
