Yes - pretty much what Carlyle said last night when he semi lost it on a reporter for asking the same question. He just scored 3 goals with 15 minutes ice time - why would we change that. - Your_Mom
Exactly. And he'd get the additional pressure of making Kessel produce.
He doesn't need that right now. |

Correct. RC is using him wisely right now. Especially with the supporting cast he has.
On another note Marty...... wtf is it with those midgets of yours? They've been playing great. I thought after the 2nd leaf beating they would have folded like a cheap suit. - faceto27
Not too sure what's going on with the Habs, to be honest. I guess attitude goes a long way. |

I know why. They play like little effin wieners ALL the time. They are relentless and must drive the oppostiton nuts and frustrate them to no end. |

More ice time = Harder competition.
According to these numbers, he's one of the Leafs forwards who faced the easiest competition so far. Leave him where he is for now, it's working.

Was dissapointed in both Frazer and Holzer tonight too.
Not that I want to start the revolving door again, but they need to be better.
If we could rotate between Frazer/Holzer, and give Gardiner a permanent spot then that would be ideal.
Need to make room on the roster first - AngryWhiteMale
Agreed, time to get the kid back into the lineup if he is ready. I would make it a 5 player platoon here;
Rotate Fraser, Holzer, Liles, Kostka and Gunner in/out of line up, until a suitable trade exists for one of these guys, or another injury occurs. If you need to make room for a roster spot, that's easy, waive Komi to the minors.... |

Harder competition, but also superior wingers and more time on ice.
It's a trade-off. Ideally, when Lupul and Frattin are healthy, they'll be Kadri's wingers, which means better supporting cast, and the same easy competition. That or teams key in on his line, and Kessel's line gets more space.
Either way, a win for us. |

I don't remember the exact numbers (me works IE doesn't like the site apparently) but according to sportsclubstats we have like a 90% chance of making the playoffs if we finish something like 13-11-2 or better. At 12 wins and some OTLs it's like 75%. That's a pretty big drop off. But basically playing at a clip about .500 from a points percentage standpoint (i.e. 28 of a possible 52 poings remaining) gives us a very strong chance of getting in.
That being said I know this site can be kind of wonky and changes frequently and I'm not even sure if they take into consideration that if you lose your are giving points to competition to other teams...still thought it was kind of interesting to note though. - deerow84
We were in the 90% range last January too. |

At that point, we were 3 games from being out, and the Panthers had 2 games in hand in the 9th spot.
Now we're 5 point in with no games in hand for the 9th team.
Hopefully thats the difference that gets this team rolling and into the playoffs. |

you'd think leaf fans would of learned not to even think about playoffs until its been assured
playoff hockey? not even thinking about it here.. i am still approaching it as if i will be drinking on patios while other hockey fans are stuffed inside watching their teams play in the post season
i hope to be proven wrong.. but thats about as far as i am willing to go |

It will be nice to see Kadri with Lupul on his wing, even JVR. Just someone with finish. Then we will have two lines with legit scoring threats for the opposition to deal with. |
