I think boner is more accurate. - Tee-Dot
3 goals last night, all fantastic pretty much individual efforts. there were a couple terrific pass that weren't converted (but probably does if it's someone with more scoring prowess) and 2 other individual chances that he danced the Dman and got a shot off, but couldn't convert.
there was so much more to like about him last night then just the 3 goals. |

He should have fought last night. For shame..... then they wouldn't have went to OT. - burn
Reimer didn't look sharp. Been off awhile and not practising, so I'll forgive him. He still may need another game. If he still looks shaky after two more games, then I'll worry. |

Best game by a Leaf in a long long time. Even when he didn't score he was putting some moves on. He has filthy hands.
On the bad side, our first line has looked really bad for a few games now. I am praying that Nonnis can find us a upgrade at the 1C, really really soon. |

JVR was better than MTL, but still not his best. Kessel was a bit better too than MTL, but still not nearly good enough. Bozak sucks royal. |

If JVR and Kessel are no longer clicking by the time Joffrey is back... maybe reunite Lupul with Phil?
JVR with Kadri and Frattij would be sick IMO. |

Bozak looked tired last night and Phil - there's something wrong there the last two games - wondering if he's feeling ok - tired, flu, injury? He was nothing similar to what he has been. And JVR...large portions of the game you don't even know he's out there - 12 goals though so who can argue with that. Even with the win, the turn overs in their end are scary - I think they just need some practice time - 5 games difference between them and Boston. Boston gets to practice all the time - the rest not so much.. |

I think its obvious with Kessel - the compete level isn't there. He almost seems disinterested. Look at Kadri and to a certain extent, JvR, they have been driving the net, fighting and going after loose pucks.
What does Kessel do? Same tired thing - drive fast down the wing and wrist shot from far out then skates around the back of the net and out again - no driving the net, no fighting for the puck, just a shot at the goalies chest and that's it. I'm not impressed at all. I'm really starting to worry about this guy wanting to be here. |

As much as I agree with everything you said, I think part of the problem is who he is playing with. Bozak can't do much other then win some face-offs and throw the body a little. JVR is a solid player but he is more a goal scorer, not much of a playmaker. Teams only really have to worry about JVR in front of the net, and then they can stack onto Kessel, without too much worry with what bozak will do. Everytime he comes down the wing, the defense can just keep kessel to the outside and make his shot much less effective.
He needs to start going to the net instead of skating by it. |

"Puck support is your team’s ability to maintain control of the puck while moving it into a scoring opportunity. Puck support has both individual and team components. From a team perspective, it requires a collective effort to move the puck into your offensive zone and into a scoring position. From an individual perspective, it requires each non-puck-carrying player (supporting) to provide options for the puck carrier.
To be effective in this support role, players must anticipate the puck carrier’s intentions, read the defensive pressure being applied on the puck carrier, and adjust his or her position in relation to the puck carrier. Positioning of support players with respect to the puck carrier is important because movement by all players creates an attack that is always more difficult for the opposition to cover.
Three options that each supporting player needs to work on include getting open for a pass, clearing an area to allow space for the puck carrier to skate, and supporting a shot on net. These three options require supporting players to be able to read, react, and anticipate quickly, both individually and as a team."

I agree - he should be dominant down there - especially with his size, which he doesn't use. Really needs to work on his skating. I don't expect much from him at this point. |

I knew he would do well in Detroit. Hes better then Reimer and Scrivens but Burkie believed in Reimer after that half season where he played so well....
