At this point, it's smarter to try and pick up a 2nd first rounder. I like Mac and all, he's a good player. But simply put, Frattin is better offensively, plays a gritty game, can play decent defense and 200 ft. Mac could potentially get you that first for a contender in the west provided he keeps his stat line great. If Gaustad can get you a first, versatile Top 9 forward who provides offense and decent grit should be possible. Hell, packaging up Gunnerson/Liles/Franson, Mac and something else could bring us a first a Prospect or possibly a better defensive piece. Obviously not hoping for much, but the potential is there.

That tandem of Frattin/Kadri is nuts, and guys like Komarov/Orr/Brown/McLaren (Grittier types) open up their game and keep them from being blind sided or taken advantage of.

One thing I'm curious to see though; Grabo on the wing and McClement in the middle. Might be a nice change defensively.

- Viktory

You are right. If Gaustad can harness a 1st rounder late, mac can too. No way in hell we trade franson though. Hes too good

And Grabo to the wing makes sense, if we acquire another centerman.... starts with an S

Gillis hasn't been doing a sparkling job either.

Seriously, what has Gillis done to improve Vancouver in the last year or so?

Hes done alot of very good things and alot of really bad things. Ill say hes batting .500

Reimer was bad and there's no excuse for that. If Carlyle goes back with Scrivens then that boosts his confidence majorly and lets Reimer know that he has to earn his #1 spot back.. I think we'll see Reimer on Monday, but on a short leash.

First game back is his excuse from injury Let him get rolling and get the hot streak going, he'll be back to normal in no time And the rest, for sure

This is true, so might as well trade him for a decent prospect or if you have no other choice trade him for a 2nd rounder to relieve some cap space, because most likely macarthur wont be resigned next year. Nonis will have some plans on where the money will be spent on who to sign as UFA's. God bring Perry here already and hand us the cup
- Mapleleafs_91

If Anaheim goes out first round then i think you'll see Perry come to Toronto. He'd kinda be stupid not to. Although a top line center would be nice like say Getzlaf, but that's highly unlikely.

Our top 3 centers are too small. We need to move one, that's not Kadri, for a real top end center. We have Grabo or Bozak, plus a defenceman and winger to move. Gotta get the roster reset, so we can actually take advantage of all 23 spots. As it sits now, we've got 21 spots and 20 of them are accounted for. The trade market is starting to heat up and there are some bubble teams that need help. Time to start taking advantage of that.

His rebound control is much better then Scrivens. Jersey is slumping, so put Reimer back in and see if he can win that one. It gets harder after that, with Ottawa and Boston, back to back.

Carlyle just needs to say: If you win, your in! Change goaltenders after a loss and ride them for as long as they win. Only 26 more games to go.
- PrinceLH

I hate when the coach does that, it makes the goalies look like scared drowned rats in net, every goal that goes in might be their career. I would much rather give the job to Reimer, a short leash is fine, if he sucks after a couple starts then pull the trigger. split goalie rotations are usually more harm than help.

Weren't you the one that said he is coming here? I really hope he does, thats what i am expecting, for them to make the playoffs and get swept in the first round. It also may persuade Getzlaf.. too bad burke is not here anymore but we have carlyle. Those two know how the leafs are like, with the players, a good group and core. They would definitely put us over the top with us having an edge but if only ones comes here(perry) id still be happy with that. These talks of trading kessel for him is just nonsense and stupidity. If perry REALLY wants to come here, he will sign here. Thus we have perry and kessel

Or you know...

San Jose, Vancouver, Nashville St. Louis and Detroit would probably garner more attention for Perry to move than Toronto.

Let's face it, Perry is in his prime currently playing for one of the top 5 teams in the league, where he's already won a cup, been there is whole career. What incentive does he have to leave? More money? I don't think so, Anaheim will pony up if need be, their cap isn't that large and all that besides, what if Anaheim magically wins another cup? Two cups with his only NHL Franchise and possibly see more down the road with the guys in the system and the futures coming along?

And what exactly does Perry get on the open market? If you look at the closest comparable in terms of talent signed recently FA, Parise is at the top of the list for comparables. 7.5 Mill+? 8?

It's ludicrous. How can Toronto justify signing a contract lie that (likely 6 years) with Kessels contract coming up, still lacking that "true #1" the potential #1 goalie(s) in Scrivins/Reimer coming up, not to mention Dinglenauf and Tyler Prozak slated for new contracts soon?

Yeah, Connololy gone, Komi probably gone, possible Liles gone and all that cap room gets eaten up by like 1.5 players if you sign Perry.

It makes no sense long term atm. If we had Sundin, it'd be a no brainer.

Idk dude i say a lot of poop... I think Perry would fit perfectly in Toronto. Give him the "C" too.. If it takes a Kessel trade then do it, but i agree i would rather he just signs.

Phaneuf will sign for 6mil... Perry will get 7 - 8mil...Screw Bozak, trade his ass.. I don't feel like doing the the math but im sure we could make it work. If we could land Getz or a #1 center then trade Kessel,, he's a bum anyways

Looking to see a trade of one of the excess Dmen this weekend, now that we have a break for Nonis to reflect on what he's seen so far.

Great stuff by Dion

Reimer could have been better, but Franson screened him on the Visnovsky shot, and the okposo shot; while he did go down early, it was a perfect shot nevertheless.

Kadri look dangerous now? Wait till Loops and Frattin join him in a couple weeks

Was dissapointed in both Frazer and Holzer tonight too.

Not that I want to start the revolving door again, but they need to be better.

If we could rotate between Frazer/Holzer, and give Gardiner a permanent spot then that would be ideal.

Need to make room on the roster first

Sometimes its a player's desire to play for their hometown.. and if he wants to come here, boy you better sign his ass

Basically alot of guys will be gone and we have more capspace to play with which will be going to the players who deserve it or a guy like perry. You guys make it seem that kessel's contract is going to be something substantial. The cap hit right now is what 5.5, whats his caphit going to be 1M more? Thats not really a big difference. We are spending 1M more which the leafs poop out daily..
