I am surprised considering how much the Avalanche refused to pay O'Reilly what he wanted. Then again, the first year is 3.5 million so maybe they can handle that and then try to trade him if and when they are allowed to do so. - Two_For_Truth

Not getting too giddy at all. Just happy with the team so far, and think that with a healthy roster they could be better. Im very aware that this team can also fall apart but im just dwelling on the positives instead of the negatives for now.
The defense is both young and inexperienced at this level. Its something to worry about for sure, but it's still a lot better than it was last year. Carlyle seems to be getting this guys on track more often than not so far this season and hopefully they keep improving. - systemtool
Do we go with Gardiner and Scrivens on Monday? I think Carlyle has done a great job keeping these guys in line. |

We need to get Gardiner into the lineup. The back end is fairly slow, so adding a good puck mover is important. He'd help the powerplay for sure. |

OK, well then they are doomed if thats the case. If the owners are calling the shots and the ones making these terrible decisions. I feel for Calgary fans because they are heading down a loooooonnnnggg bumpy fukking road.
That teams management is a joke - vancity787
Maybe we can get a Burke to the Flames rumour started. |

Gunnar has been playing better... He made a couple calm plays behind the net to clear the zone. Gardiner would be an upgrade tho. Leafs worry me a bit with the stretch passes tho. They seem to do better with skating the puck up instead.. |

I would be satisfied with Mckegg playing the 3rd with frattin and kadri if that were to happen - Mapleleafs_91
I haven't been watching the Marlies at all.. hows he doing? |

Same, but i have an obsession with him yeah hes doing pretty poop Sucks he was off to a great start when the season started then just disappeared, not sure if hes getting minutes or anything
EDIT: whats even more disappointing is brad ross on another note, colborne is doing pretty decent 30 pts in 49 games not that bad |

Seeing how holzer is the only one with waiver exempt, he gets sent down, gardiner comes back up |

Leafs have 3 days to figure it out... I say trade Liles, sit Holzer for a game and start Gards.. Then if either Gunnar Gards or Kostka fumbles put Holzer back in. |

None of these picks have shown a thing at the NHL level yet. Oreilly has and is young. Trying to geta young two-way center is not a bad call. Not surprised Colorado matched. - sanfordnson
stupid move by Calgary though, Oreilly isn't good enough to save that team those "unproven" draft players would be a much better stepping stone. time to blow that team up while there are tradeable assets there |

Thats why building through the draft only is a dumb idea... - Arctic_AARDVARK
Correct, but the kessel trade we gave too much up so that backfires on us. I know i hate bringing that up.. but besides from that you are right. So best thing to do is trade with what we got for other players, at the same time trying to avoid giving up a first |

Reimer gets a free pass for this game, he was rusty and our goalies suck against the islanders for some reason. |

I wonder if blowing that big lead and losing tonight, might get them to start moving assets and start a rebuild. If they're so gung ho in trading that 1st rounder, offer them a package of either Bozak or Grabovski and one of our lesser defencemen. It would be great, if we made the playoffs and still had a top 5 pick in the draft.

I wasn't for the Kessel trade.. That was dumb. Burke should have realized that they were a bottom team, even with Kessel. If we had Seguin right now we'd be scary good up front.. But anyways.. Its disappointing when late first and early second rounders don't pan out. So it would be stupid to trade Mac for a second rounder because chances are we'd never get to see the guy we traded him for in the NHL. |

normally I'd call that hommerism to think calgary would even consider to move that pick for say bozak + gunnar, but who knows with th flames |

At this point, it's smarter to try and pick up a 2nd first rounder. I like Mac and all, he's a good player. But simply put, Frattin is better offensively, plays a gritty game, can play decent defense and 200 ft. Mac could potentially get you that first for a contender in the west provided he keeps his stat line great. If Gaustad can get you a first, versatile Top 9 forward who provides offense and decent grit should be possible. Hell, packaging up Gunnerson/Liles/Franson, Mac and something else could bring us a first a Prospect or possibly a better defensive piece. Obviously not hoping for much, but the potential is there.
That tandem of Frattin/Kadri is nuts, and guys like Komarov/Orr/Brown/McLaren (Grittier types) open up their game and keep them from being blind sided or taken advantage of.
One thing I'm curious to see though; Grabo on the wing and McClement in the middle. Might be a nice change defensively.

Reimer was bad and there's no excuse for that. If Carlyle goes back with Scrivens then that boosts his confidence majorly and lets Reimer know that he has to earn his #1 spot back.. I think we'll see Reimer on Monday, but on a short leash. |

They were desperate enough to give up a 1st and a 3rd for O'Reilly. O'Reilly may be the second or third line center, in Colorado. Is it worth a top 5 pick for this guy? It looks like the Flames have their finger on the panic button. Lets rape them, before someone else does. Sherman is an idiot for not allowing this offer sheet to stand. |

Carlyle just needs to say: If you win, your in! Change goaltenders after a loss and ride them for as long as they win. Only 26 more games to go. |
