Im also getting tired of seeing McClement on the 2nd line. - systemtool
The second line can't score.. Grabo is under achieving this year.. I like McClement but he should be a 3rd line guy ideally. |

Feaster was hired to take orders from Mr. King. Nothing more. - Two_For_Truth
OK, well then they are doomed if thats the case. If the owners are calling the shots and the ones making these terrible decisions. I feel for Calgary fans because they are heading down a loooooonnnnggg bumpy fukking road.

I've always loved Mcarthurs game. What have I been missing? I havent seen a whole lot of Leafs games this season.... - vancity787
I don't understand the hate for this guy. He's not making huge bucks and he still gets his points. I have more issues with players like Kessel not putting out right now. I think that Carlyle should consider moving Kessel to Kadri's line to get him going.

Agreed. Can't wait for Frattin and Lupul to get back. Should make for a pretty potent 3 lines, with a fourth that be physically punishing. |

Absolute waste of space on the 2nd line. He's been getting way too much ice time for far too long. |

I wouldnt pay 5 mil for O'reilly anyways. Let Calgary take on that contract. He's not worth it - vancity787
O'Reilly is worth 5 million dollars if you consider the fact that he's very solid defensively and if you're okay with paying for potential because he's been very good, at a very young age. |

Not quite as physical this year but plays a good two way game. He gels with anyone he plays with. Looking good on Kadri's line. Has a nice one timer too |

Negative vibes man... negative vibes
Say we trade him for a 2nd... Then Kuli komarov or frattin goes down to injury.. then we have to rely on Orr playing 3rd line minutes., or call up a Hamilton or D'amigo - Arctic_AARDVARK
I have liked Orr on the 3rd line... creates openings.. and gets a couple of goal attempts every game... plus he can protect Kadri who is a valuable asset...
so yes I wouldn't have an issue with it.. next years draft is good.. that second rounder could be quite valuable... and yes some of those guys on the farm need call-ups.. for a few games...

It's not as bad as Buffalo matching the Vanek offer sheet but still pretty bad. I guess the Avalanche are okay with paying him the 3.5 million this year and will try to move him next year, if they can, if it's allowed. - Two_For_Truth
Im still thankful that Buffalo didnt. |

It's definitely orders from the owners. Similar problems as the Leafs from years past. Make 8th place at all costs the future be damned. Cut corners if need be but fight to get your ass kicked in the 1st round. |

Grabo really isn't playing with anyone that could score either... the best option might be to give him Lupul when he returns...

Absolute waste of space on the 2nd line. He's been getting way too much ice time for far too long. - Two_For_Truth I can see him moving down to the 4th line, with Komorov, when this team gets healthy. MacArthur moves up with Kulimen and Grabovski, JVR moves to the wing with Kadri and Frattin. Of course Lupul goes back with Kessel and Bozak. Leafs need to move out some of the deadwood off of their 23 man roster, so there's room for Gardiner.

What if that pick becomes MacKinnon, Druin or Monahan? Would Calgary look stupid after that. Colorado just saved Calgary from looking like idiots. - PrinceLH
None of these picks have shown a thing at the NHL level yet. Oreilly has and is young. Trying to geta young two-way center is not a bad call. Not surprised Colorado matched. |

Kessel except these last two games have been competing hard at both ends... that is why... MacA has been riding Kadri.. but we all know when Frattin gets back he will get bumped...

We are getting too giddy.. Have we forgot we almost lost to the lowly Isles tonight? Habs outplayed us, and have been quite sloppy the past couple weeks.. Lupul and Frattin should supercharge the offense but its the defense im worried about.. I'd love to see a solid shut down guy on the back end... Kuli for Orpik would be sweet |

I am surprised considering how much the Avalanche refused to pay O'Reilly what he wanted. Then again, the first year is 3.5 million so maybe they can handle that and then try to trade him if and when they are allowed to do so. |

Gillis hasn't been doing a sparkling job either.
Seriously, what has Gillis done to improve Vancouver in the last year or so? |

When I first looked at the standings, after a couple of weeks, I agreed with that. But looking at the teams around us, in the standings, and it's not a stretch that we could win a round. The only team that I don't want to face, is Boston. Best case scenerio is getting to 6th and taking out a Southeast Division chumpion.

They'd be stupid to take JVR off the top line.. Unless you play him with Kadri. So i think you will see Lupul with Grabo. |

Not getting too giddy at all. Just happy with the team so far, and think that with a healthy roster they could be better. Im very aware that this team can also fall apart but im just dwelling on the positives instead of the negatives for now.
The defense is both young and inexperienced at this level. Its something to worry about for sure, but it's still a lot better than it was last year. Carlyle seems to be getting this guys on track more often than not so far this season and hopefully they keep improving. |
