That's what I was thinking...Lupul would look good with Kadri, and Frattin already has some good chemistry with him. It's nice to have some good offensive depth waiting in the wings, even if the Leafs don't really have the top end talent of some other teams. - blahman20

Today was dominated by one of the stupidest hockey debates I can remember. No, you never have to fight when you're a big minutes defenseman trying to kill a 5 minute major against some douche who picks his spots. What really drives me crazy is that Prust was laughing at Phaneuf on the bench for not fighting him after he refused to fight McLaren earlier. I used to like Prust but he's absolutely gutless. - Jeffmt
Ya I caught the end of that debate.
Phaneuf can pick a fight to motivate his team but make it Patches or someone like that ....not Prust. I'm sure Carlyle has given pretty firm instructions. I like Prust - he's Brown with some skill - he's doing his job trying to get Phaneuf off his game. Brown was doing it to the Habs D until he was thrown out. |

Seems like how it will be.
Except Mac is out of that lineup. Not sure what will happen with him. |

I can't remember the last time a young player brought this much excitement to the Leafs and their fans. Great to see. |

This has been a great game for making a statement and stopping the losses before they become losing streaks.
In past years, we probably would still be down by a couple goals right now, only to turn it on in the last 2 minutes and come up short.
Losses become losing losing streaks... losing streaks become tailspins...
This year when we lose (and let's face it, it's going to happen) at least we don't get that sense of impending doom - the feeling that the wheels are falling off. |

You guys think Kadri will play with Lupul when he gets back? Frattin and Kadri were starting to have some really nice chemistry before his injury too. - blahman20
Kadri has looked good with Macarthur so I wouldn't move him
My guess, barring any trades, is
Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
JVR-Grabo-Kulemin
Macarthur-Kadri-Frattin
Komarov-Mcclement-Orr
Extras: Mcclaren and Brown
I think they'll get rid of Steckel who offers nothing to the team besides being a faceoff "specialist" who is at 43% on draws |

If Toronto is in the playoff hunt, i'm all for keeping Mac. Said it a few times in this thread, i'm in no hurry to move him out.

Don't remember many performances like this by Kessel, but you're right he's definitely exciting when he's on his game. |

Thing is, and i'm probably talking to myself, but eh-o, i've had a drink. The Leafs are learning how to play hockey. An actual system. Yeah it's boring most of the time. (Not like Wilson style). But decent teams don't play exciting hockey. Bruins, Kings, Devils are boring as poop. Whether or not we make the playoffs, this year has been a huge season for us. Whether or not 10,12 or 15 players (maybe less) can show they can play their role, we will find out. Obviously it's harder if we find no top 6 forwards can do it, but whether we like it or not, we will find out this year. We will win game, we will lose games, it will be fun, it will be boring, but either way, you can't deny making the playoffs will be fun. (Frank, this took me ages to write, someone please read) |
