When he's not putting up points you'll struggle to find a more useless player in the NHL. How many times does his line get stuck in their zone because of his soft play? It's not a coincidence that he's -4 tonight and -2 tonight, nor is it a coincidence that Kessel was on the ice for more goals against than any other player in the NHL last season.
It's easy to cut players slack when they put in effort. It's much different when a player like Kessel gives the puck away up the middle in his own zone because he doesn't want to get hit along the boards.

He is putting up points though. He's had a few bad games in a row. In most cities you can do that without the fans turning on you. What really bothers me is that when he's scoring goals goals and setting up VanRiemsdyk everyone trips over each other to praise him. Two or three bad games later and those same people are calling him useless. He's one of the better offensive players in the league and we're lucky to have him. That won't last though; there's no way he resigns here with the way he's treated by fans/media. We're going to run another good player out of town with nothing to show for it.
