1 year qualifying at $6.5M plus UFA the next year. Unrestricted is the way to go to get the big bucks (unless your name is Weber).

No. I was for trading for Stastny a year or so ago....but not anymore, he really seems lost out there and isn't worth anywhere near his contract. If Toronto wasn't giving up much (say a 2nd rounder and a decent prosect) it might be alright, but i'm not fond of tying up that much money into Grabovski and Stastny as our 1-2.

Mac is a UFA after this season anyways. Grabo is much better in the middle where he can carry the puck with speed, which is his best asset. I'm not a fan of trading for Stastny at this point.

The ROR situation is not so cut and dry as some people make it seem. Right now the Flames would have the 8th pick, and remember this is a shorten season so anything can happen. O'Reilly in all likelihood will be better than that 8th overall selection, it becomes a slippery slope if Calgary starts to lose a lot with O'Reilly and ends up giving up a top 5 pick (sounds familiar?). The 3rd round pick is a total crap shoot, nothing can be predicted from having it.

Well if Getzlaf is signed in the next couple days or both getz and perry.. and with stastny at the age of 27 it might make sense, maybe he needs a different atmosphere and then we can have the american line of
