5.5 for Grab - Big_Lightnin
If there was no draft pick compensation involved, hell no. O'Reilly is way better to have than Grabovski. |

6.5M for arbitration in 2 years...
so it's ROR for 7M in 2 years.
no thanks
and "way better." come on. assuming he's able to play at the level he did last year consistently, he's as good as Grabo. IF he can do it.

If i'm Colorado I wouldn't match, but i'm not really sure how much they value O'Reilly...but I think that Calgary pick will be top 10 for sure, maybe top 5. |

I don't even think ROR accepts it, he's waiting for Nonis to trade for him. |

At least this ROR thing will be over. I still would have liked him...not for a first round pick, more of a hockey trade...but oh well. |

If we could make sure the pick we gave up is 15th or later I would do it, and try my best to trade Grab, Mac, Komi, Liles for as many picks as we could. That would be an upgrade imo

Does he get 6.5 million automatically just for being alive or does he have to earn it?
O'Reilly is way better defensively and has already shown he can put up 55 points all while being way younger. |

he'll have arbitration rights after this contract, based on $6.5M salary. Meaning he has leverage to argue his next contract will me MORE than $6.5M annually.
for MAYBE 55pts.

Offer Sheet doesn't technically exist until he signs it. Nobody's going to report on an offer sheet the player refused to sign. |

You think O'Reilly can make that big of an impact, that quickly after all this time waiting for a contract? Plus, all the hype surrounding him and the expectations?
If Calgary gets the center they need for Iginla, it might happen over time but as far as this season goes, the odds are really high that the just gave up a top 5 pick for him.
Calgary really is stubborn about making 8th place. They have had great chances to unload Iginla, Kiprusoff and rebuild but they absolutely refuse to do it instead choosing to delay the inevitable for 8th place. Really, really stupid franchise. |

Way too much money for O'Reilly, but it's not a huge offer length wise so it's not terrible. |

well, he's getting $6.5M so yes. And arbitration will be based on that numer for his next contract. Guy is holding out once...
gonna be tough to get him to take a pay cut if he puts up similar numbers.

It's ownership all the way.. When Feaster got there you have to think he would have gone for a rebuild if it was his choice. |
