Any opportunity for some people to lay into Phaneuf is a discussion around here.
There is literally no scenario in which Phaneuf fights Prust last night and comes out looking better in some people's eyes. |

I would like to book tickets to Winterfell for a visit then drop in on Daenerys for an afternoon and evening.

He went for one huge hit he missed and was caught out of position. If dion had tried to fight later on in the game it would have meant 1 of 2 things.
1) Prust does his job and gets Dion off the ice for 5 minutes.
2) Prust suckers dion into taking a stupid penalty and skates away - Fatty-Patty
Or maybe Phaneuf, in exchange for having a seat for 5 minutes in a game that he was playing like crap in anyway, sparks his team to play better for the rest of the game. |

Yeah, run their players and take more 5 minute majors!
Great plan! - Two_For_Truth
You realize that a player can get ejected for a instigator, right?
What do you want? What would have made you happy here? |

I'm sure I've played hockey, and to a decent enough level. You on the other hand, well, your HB posts speak towards your hockey ignorance. - Fatty-Patty
Phaneuf tried to do too much last night. No doubt about it.
But I can't blame the guy - somebody had to.
Kessel and his first line buddies weren't trying to do anything. Kessel was so chicken-poop uninspired last night it was embarrassing. He was never more than 3 feet from the boards. |

The huge hit he never landed but that put him out of position for a bunch of 2 on 1s is some how better than fighting a guy to spark the team. You sure you've played hockey before? - Two_For_Truth
Except that didn't happen. We're playing make believe again I see.

You really think a fight would light a fire under Kessel? - Atomic Wedgie
He's not the only guy on the team but maybe. Kessel isn't a leader and if Phaneuf is suppose to be this great leader everybody hypes him up to be, it's his job to at least try to get his guys going. |

That's the funny part about this.
If Phaneuf beats the hell out of Prust, everybody rejoices and basks in the glory of manliness and toughness that Alphaneuf exudes.
But if he doesn't, he's smart because Prust is a nobody. - Two_For_Truth
The real funny part about this.....
No matter what happened......
No matter the outcome...
YoU (G) would find something to spout off about.
Btw... I hear they are accepting applications for next seasons
Canadas greatest know it all.

Fighting in the 2nd period is an automatic suspension?
Okay. New rules. - Two_For_Truth
Just a question, as someone who engages you in discussion on here, how do you see yourself in relation to your peers on this board? On a ranking of 1 to 10, with 10 being the strongest, are you here to express your opinion? debate with other people's opinion? Rant about what bothers you about the Leafs? Discuss what you like about the Leafs? Engage with other posters as an equal? Engage with other poster as the only one that's right?
I was asked this on the Blue Jays Espn board a few years back and at the time my answers indicated I spoke strictly from a pulpit, that I wasn't actually on that board to engage with other posters but rather to spew my opinions and my opinions alone. I just notice, that sometimes even when people agree with you, you still want to argue. Maybe I'm off with this assertion, but I worry about you sometimes that you're going to get this account banned too, which would be too bad because, there are times, you do have valuable poop to say. |

I would have been fine with him pumping the tar out of Prust, but let's be honest, the drop off in skill level after Phaneuf is huge.
We have enough meatheads in the line-up to deal with the Prusts of the world. |

By taking dumb penalties at stupid times?
Is this really you, Uggie? Because the U_G I know would probably rake Phaneuf over the coals for that. |

Come on, the Leafs played like poop.
We didn't deserve that win. Maybe we'll go on a Montreal-like tear now that they got a kick in the ass. - Feeling Glucky?

This is unbelievable. If Phaneuf fights Prust and beats his lights out, you would be the first one to yell and scream about how tough he is and what a great leader he is. But because he doesn't, he's suddenly a genius. Phaneuf can't lose! He's just that amazing. |

So you plan is to have the guy who logs the most regular and PK ice time on the Leafs go off for 7 minutes, giving the Habs a powerplay in a one-goal game, in the hopes that it motivates Kessel, even though by your own admission it has almost no hope of actually working?
I only wish the NHL Doctor was here to give you life lessons. |

It happened at least twice. Phaneuf went looking for the big hit that left him at center ice while the Habs were on the attack. |

I'd say its more a 50-50 split on whether fans like Dion. Pretty much the same split on McCabe right before he was run out of town. |
