While I love the coaching job Carylye has done so far, he will need to soften his stance on playing big hard-nosed guys all the time. I understand that he wants this team to play a certain way, but come on...they still need speed and they still need movement from the back-end. To me Gardiner or Liles (Liles would make more sense for this game) should be back in the lineup, with one of Kostka/Holzer coming out. - blahman20
At the end of the day, even though players do struggle from time to time, if Colton Orr is playing more minutes than JVR, the chances of winning games is not good. I understand the need to reward hard workers with ice time, but skill players need ice time as well to work through their struggles. |

FYI, Kadri, our 3rd line centre is 14th among NHL centres in points, 13th in +/-, and 106th in ATOI. - mykokes
That's because he shouldn't be a third line centre anymore.

I go after Dion as much as the next guy, but there is no way he fights Prust there. Prust turned down 3 other fights like a punk female dog.
Dion wasn't even scared of him, came right back after and flattened him again. - Leafland
Hell, I'll go one step further: it was a smart play by Phanuef.
He made Prust stop and hang around in the Leafs zone after the puck had cleared. Check the game tape - Montreal couldn't enter the zone until Prust picked up his stick and skated out.
But hey, no sense in pointing out what really happened.
Dion sucks! Guy thinks he owns the CD player in the dressing room! |

Gardiner made first passes as often as he carried the puck last year. They tended to be good passes as he didn't panick and took the time to see what was available.
He did not just start skating up the ice. - Canada Cup
Just seems strange that both of the D that the organization has who are considered to be PMD, are not in the lineup. I know Liles was not playing great, but if the coach really wanted a guy with those skills, one of the two would be in the lineup. I believe that he does not value that skill set that much.
Is it the right decision? I don't know, but I doubt we see any changes unless they go into a tail spin. |

For God's sakes, we are on a one-game losing streak.
Do you really want it to continue?
We need to do something drastic. |

No, I don't think we need to make any changes. Also, I want to edit my comment, as I totally forgot that the Ducks had Niedermayer when they won the cup. So outside dealing with contracts and waivers, I don't have any other good reasons why Gardiner is not with the Leafs. |

The only time I thought this was effective was the 1st game vs Ott. I noticed Kadri's line was against Neil's line most of that game, and felt that Orr being out there kept Neil from trying to stir things up. We all know, there is no way Neil will ever drop them against the likes of Orr or McClaren. - vermie22

Dress the entire Marlies line-up just for one game. Teach those bums a lesson. |

In my humble opinion, it's strictly a contract management issue.
He's waiver exempt for 3 more games. The team's wheels haven't come off (yet!).
He can sit and gain more confidence with the Marlies for a little while longer. |

I'm not calling for any real drastic changes....putting in Liles (Gardiner is my first option) for Kostka or Holtzer isn't drastic to me, either is starting Reimer (who is the #1 anyways, imo). |
