I'm curious as to what the Islanders have to say. If they come out and say this is the first they have heard of it then why would DP not go to the Islanders earlier? Instead he opens up to a CT beat writer only after he has been banished to the minors?? I can't help but think he is trying to play the sympathy card. I'm looking forward to all the info coming out

this is so sad...and i just lost so much respect for you.

hate RDP all you want as an athlete; the guy is a human being, and YOU of all people who has/does battle depression should be sensitive to that and not look to rationalize that its "part of sports"...thats very upsetting

Fact!

My wife has dealt with agoraphobia with panic attacks and depression more then half her life, I have dealt with her & it for over 2 decades & I still dont get it. Its completely irrational and she knows that, but she cant do anything about it.

I feel bad for my future wife who has dealt with me dealing with it. It's awful and irrational and I'm in the same boat as your wife currently. I have to take a Xanax every time I leave my house now, it's (frank)ing terrible

Problem is people dont understand depression. Sometimes you say or do someting on impulse that you dont mean to say or dont remember even writing. I regret what I wrote about DP. He ina way became a little closer

I'm betting it will be a typical CYA response that any business or organziation would give.

"We were never made aware of these issues and would have offered total support with these isses. This news comes as a complete surprise to us and we will address such matters with Rick immediately...p.s.. Brad boyes is plenty sufficient to be your power forward!"

My wife had it under control, they found her wonder drug it was Paxil CR, she went from being home bound where she wouldn't leave the house, to being able to move to NC. Then they took Paxil CR off the market a few years ago & we are back trying to find the right pill again.

no way they throw dp under the bus like that.

ill say it is a matter they are handling with rdp, they are fully aware of it and helping him get through this matter and will ask to keep his personal life, personal.

Gotya. Thanks for the support.

Look into something called bio feedback, was told from a friend it can do wonders. I sorta seems weird but its worth a shot to read up on it

Ill try anything, her on the other hand... she get so panicked taking new pills or stopping a pill even if it hasn't been working.. but I will have her read up on the Bio feedback, may be she will run it by her DR.

I am not saying this is a negative way but is there an out cause if he is feeling this way since he might never be the same even playing wise

I think you're mixing timeframes a bit. Lundqvist signed his deal in 2008, after posting good numbers for three years in the NHL and winning a gold medal in the Olympics. In fact, he had signed just a one-year deal right before that. Lundqvist's worst year before signing his contract was better than DP's best year before signing his. Whatever people thought about DiPietro's "potential," $4.5M was not an underpayment by any stretch for that player at the time of that deal. In fact, if it had been a normal, say, two-year deal, it would have been quite an overpayment. The "risk" for DP was that he could possibly develop into a player that would be worth more.
- UIF

True, Lunqvist signed his contract about 14 months after DP. His contract paid him $7.8 million his first year and then $6.8 million earch year after that. Well above DP's salary of $4.5 million.

This is sort of getting away from the point which was that DP accepted a contract that wasn't even in the top 5 of annual salaries at his position for 15 years. Knowing that salaries would continue to rise, it wasn't illogical to think that $4.5 million would be near the middle of the pack within just a couple of years. I believe that year his salary was near 10th for goalie rankings. So I can't say he was really being overpaid at that point.

I'm not justifying the contracts term, but the finance wasn't at all the issue.

I don't think that would be throwing him under the bus. But they'll feel compelled to make it clear that it's not like they were aware and did nothing.

id assume not. but in terms of that, dp might get to the point where he realizes he cant play and will cut his losses and rid himself of the team and the nhl...either way, he needs some serious help. i dont see it ending well if he is in fact depressed.
