The "old barn" sucks. I can't wait till its a distant memory. Because of these past six years, my lasting impression of this dump is it being half empty night in and night out, with a third of the people who actually do show up being fans of the opponent, sitting around the glass and starting opponent cheers in our teams arena.

My good memories of the Coliseum are long gone, ruined by the sparse and sad crowds and sh**ty teams of the past 20 or so years. I hope they break the lease or negotiate a way out of it. Take a wrecking ball to the NVMC and turn the page on that dump.

- Jethro09

ya i agree...the day shea stadium went down was a very sad day for me; a lot of memories, some good (plenty bad) but it was embarrassing to go there. its embarrassing to go to islander games at the coliseum at this point...thats the saddest part; ill be thrilled the day they move to bk.

Isles should grab Iginla!! That's the kind of player we need and he would be such a leader and an injection of some toughness and scoring. Go get him Snow, you lazy (frank).

I think we are being to hard on Jack. He has the skills to be an elite coach. Look how he gets guys going. I mean KO an amazing game last night. could win MVP this year. I mean benching Ullstrom was the best move he has made and playing Reasoner every night pure genius. He has the team just 3 points out from a playoff spot. We should extend his contract not let him go

He's not the only guy skating on the ice. Every player was on that ice. I refuse to make excuses for that misplay.

So....how do you explain what happened to Brian Strait? If I was him, I'd sue Nassau County.

Took one game for this Leaf's blogger to figure Cappy out (from Lighthousehockey):

"The New York Islanders have talent, but no system. They could be considered the reverse of the Leafs, who have system, but not a lot of talent filling the spaces. At even strength, you knew this would be a wide-open affair since the Islanders are prone to defensive lapses, have a volatile 37-year-old goaltender, but also a lot of speed from their forward unit. Finally, we saw a game with a lot of scoring chances, and it has been a while. You begin to tire of a team that plays a clampdown defensive system each night, so fans of teams that employ coaches like Randy Carlyle can thank the New York Islanders for screwing around with the trend of the NHL.
-Jack Capuano had last change, but there was no real need for him to have it. I get the feeling he manages his bench the same at home and on the road. There were no notable head-to-head match ups, or cases where one line dominated another. Kadri's three goals came against three different New York Islander lines. I liked that Carlyle just sort of rolled with it and let the chips fall. He's not a great coach, but he's smart enough to know that Jack Capuano was going to do something colossally stupid, like end up a couple of times with his fourth line out against the Maple Leafs' first line.
-I don't think I've seen a fourth line get the leeway Capuano's did tonight. That's a line made up of Marty Reasoner, Matt Martin and Eric Boulton. Boulton's a pure pugilist, but Reasoner is a player who could have success in soft defensive zone minutes as a good face-off man, but they got caught out on the ice a lot and managed to get rung up for scoring chances against in the second and third periods. As much as we hate how much Carlyle leans on Frazer McLaren and Colton Orr at the start of games, he's never quite obtuse enough to put them out down by 1 with 12 minutes to go against a line that had already scored three goals on the night. Yes, Clarke MacArthur, Nazem Kadri and Leo Komarov played a full shift against the Islanders' fourth line with 12 minutes to go. It lasted 50 seconds and MacArthur got a good scoring chance set up by Kadri.

hahaha nailed it...although, in cappys defense, there were times where JTs line was out against their 4th line as well...but point taken.

Fellows, I am a die hard islanders fan. it hurts to see them go to Brooklyn but you know what? It is the best thing that will ever happen to Islanders. Nassau Coliseum will always be the negative force that pulls Islanders into hell. Nobody wants to play for us until they are forced then realize how much they love it. That's not what we want out of it. If it means no more attending Islanders games in Brooklyn since it is too far for me. The best part is to watch them win in glory will satisfy me. I feel that when Islanders move out of Nassau Coliseum this June, I doubt that Capuano remain the coach. I have a great feeling that Weight will take over unless a mysterious coach comes out of nowhere and say I will lead them to never never land! However...I always felt that Okposo could be really good but for some reasons he just think he is on a basketball court most of times! I feel that it is wise to see them play youngsters....

naaa the writer used quite a bit of sensationalism when promoting his article, because most of it was taken out of context.

Yep! Whole thing is pretty accurate, but the part about the matchups is dead on. The worst is when it's such a gross mismatch right off of a faceoff after a TV timeout or something like that. You have the last change, Jack!
