I remember watching TSN's deadline show and hearing a trade had been agreed upon between Buff and Van with a Coho for Kass swap along with, in Bmacs words a "blue-chip defensive prospect". At the time that cooled my tantrum a little thinking McNabb or something of quality was coming back. Needless to say the tantrum fell back into full effect.
To answer ur question yes, yes i do. Coho had definitely proven more at that point in his career and in many regards still has. - Whiskey-Tango
100% agree kas is good but cody should have gotten more i think. |

Would be great if Buffalo had a big tough scoring forward on that line instead of Pommer... - jochfr
They could I they'd either move Vanek to RW or Stafford decided to show up this year. |

This screams darcy trade Pommer!!!! We could get a Carter/Richards type deal for him right? Maybe a little less seeing as he is older |

Coho seems faster this year.... He's definitely got a little more jump in his step. Also they are using him on the PK so they are at least trying to make him more responsible defensively. I agree he's not going to win the Selke though. - jochfr
I noticed that, i remember him struggling to keep up with the twins, which raised many eyebrows. Then as early as a week after the trade he was flying, demonstrated much better speed in that thrashing of MTL when he potted two goals.

I dare say it would be interesting to see what Foligno could do there. It could be a complete disaster. But at the same time, his physical presence could open things up a bit for CoHo and Vanek. |

I wouldn't be upset if any of the guys that have been with the team for several years get traded. The young guys are the only guys I dont really wanna part with |

I was just about to say that. Plus I think Pominville with ennis would get stafford going? I can dream |

Pominville and Stafford are both RW. So that wouldn't work unless Staff can move to the left side. I know Pommer can't. He's strictly a RW.
I know Vanek has played RW before, so to move him to the right so you can put Foligno on the left wouldn't be a huge deal. |

That and along with the fact that Burke came out the day after and said no other GM knew Coho was on the block which further frustrated many nucks fans. Further more he trade happened within the dying seconds of the deadline which raised concerns that Gillis completely jumped the gun.
Mind you at this point i do like the trade and hold high regards for Kassian's future. We have always needed a player of his caliber and i believe he will quickly become a playoff hero, be it through points or mere physical play. |

I think Burke said that because he was pissed that Regier pulled that off. He was trying to save face more than anything I bet. He talked a lot about how trying to make a trade with Regier was near impossible not too long before that. |

By far my second favorite team after the Nucks. Have always loved Vanek and loved the youth brought in over the years. Foligno, Ennis, Myers( i know i know) and now Coho, Griks and Gringonsons*. I see a bright future if the team can find some chemistry. |

They need the right coach for all that young talent too. I think Rolston is a good guy to have behind the bench at least for the rest of this year. I'm not sure if Cody just feels more comfortable now than he did last year after the trade or if the time he spent with Rolston in Rochester during the lockout has more of an impact. But he certainly looks more like the player we were expecting we got in the trade than he did last season.
Rolston has been said to be a great teacher and has been good at developing talent. Foligno was nowhere close to being an NHL player at the beginning of last season and by the end, Rolston had him up to the big club and contributing. |

Good point, makes alot of sense seeing as how the leafs really didn't have anything of value in regards to Vancouver's "needs". A Cody for Kadri trade, at the time would have caused another riot. |

Players like Kassian and Hodgson don't grow on trees. Both of them bring something very different and very special to the table. It was a great hockey trade. I don't think they would have found a player like Kassian that would have been available anywhere else in the league. The huge jump in development by Foligno made him expendable. Both are similar players in a lot of respects, so it made it easy for Regier to pull the trigger and move Kassian to fill another area of need. It was a trade that fulfilled needs for both teams. Those don't seem to happen too often these days. |

Coaching does seem to be a huge factor in relation to young teams, just look at Edm |
