Hodgson and Sulzer are pussies, Kassian and Gaustad are men. Sulzer wasnt good enough to even play games in Vancouver's top 6, Hodgson couldn't crack the Canucks top 6 due to lack of speed and defensive woes. Sure Hodgson can put up points with talented players or on the PP though, but he whines and his mommy and daddy get involved, just a nightmare. Im happy with Kassian, sure he's a 3rd liner here, but he's bigger, tougher, and can play with the Sedin's and score when he gets moved up the lineup like he's proved.

Gaustad's last straw here was when he did nothing after Miller was run over by Lucic. He was on the ice when it happened.

I don't necessarily think this is a dig at Kass more just what is better for the Sabres as a team.
The Sabres desperately needed a play making Center. We had a player very similar to Kassian in Foligno.
Also lets not forget we got a first round pick for Gausted so that factors in.
I totally agree Hodgson needs to work long and hard on his defensive game. I don't agree on the other points however(slow, weak, coach killer). I can say that his skating and strength are much better this season after a healthy off season working with Gary Roberts. Hodgson has not even made a peep in regards to coaching and had nothing to do with Lindy losing his job.
I definitely was a big fan of Kassian coming up and I think he will be a solid player. I don't however think he will live up to the hype surrounding him of a complete badass. Just not in his character I don't think!

Hey. Some Sabres Fans were pi$$ed about losing Kassian too. But Frankly, we needed this type of player between Vanek and Pommenville. It's never easy to trade an "up and coming" gritty player for an "up and coming" finesse player. I think it works for both teams and am Happy Kassian is way, way on the west coast.
Unfortunately he only has a few months left according to the doc.
