As far as Coyles hit... Honestly I don't know what to think about it. Don't know him well as a regular player, but he certainly doesn't seem to be "that kind" of guy. From all indications so far (aside from last nights incident) he seems to be a pretty good kid. Very affable in his interviews and almost a bit of shyness to him. I'd like to say he wasn't intending to hit Stajan in the head, but it sure seems to look like that was exactly what he was trying to do.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt until it happens again, but I think if head shots and targeting the head is the big No No the league wants them to be Shannahan would be justified in suspending him for a game or 2.

Granted Stajan did come back into the game, but could be concussed nonetheless. I think if a message needs to be sent about this kind of play, intentional or not, result of said play should be irrelavant. It's what could have happened, not always what does happen. IMO

Agreed! Well said. I'm guessing it'll be a fine.

Yup, I agree. I could see a one game suspension. Considering, as you say, this type of hit is a big no-no, it would be tough for the league to move on from this one without some sort of suspension IMO

Seems something an Oiler fan should bring up, not a CGY mod.

I'm not mocking the guy, I feel for him.

And Puck Daddy did an article about it today, I just felt like talking about it.

You're right, because the Wild are not the most entertaining team to watch they should cease to exist and their fans should simply find another team to root for.

Sorry, I really get tired of this conversation. The Wild have plenty of likable players and in a Traditional hockey market like Minnesota, that's pretty much all you need to enjoy watching them. Don't get me wrong, there are games when I want to pull my freaking hair out, but they're my(our) team and it is what is. Not every team get's the opportunity to draft 1st overall elite level talent every season , and the Oilers still can't seem to win. So I guess I'll take boring play and wins over high entertainment and losing and dead last almost every season. *seems to make sense*

It's just funny that the yawn complaints always seem to come after a loss to the Wild. Poetic justice I guess.

I was complaining about the game when we were still up 1-0...

It's like both teams just hate the game of hockey...

I keep them in a small box in my nightstand and pull them out every once in a while just to try them on and reminisce a bit.

Looks like no discipline on this hit, seems pretty B.S. to me.

They felt like the head wasn't the principle point of contact? If they don't want to suspend him then whatever, but you can't just lie about it.

The NHL forced Suter and Parise to go to Minny, they are not going to start suspending guys when they are out of the playoffs.

Minnesota = Pittsburgh 2005... the league's golden project

"All majors are reviewed by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety, but when there is no hearing, it usually means the NHL felt the head was not targeted or was not the principal point of contact."

Targeted? Probably not.

Principal point of contact? Absolutely.

Yeah, it's unfortunate. Especially because hockey can be such an exciting game, but that slow paced defensive struggle 2 - 1, 3 - 2 games are pretty much all Wild fans have ever known. Loved Lemaire, but he knew how to grind out those defensive battles much to the shagrin of the fans.

Hopefully once these young guys the Wild have coming in develop more, the offensive game will come. Hopefully... *wishful thinking*
