Chara???

he's on the downside of his career. He is still a #1 dman, but not in the top 5 imo.

By better do you mean has more points? I watch a lot of Oilers games. Eberle is by far the better player IMO.
- The-O-G

the sooner the better. because the way things are looking, letang is the front runner for the norris trophy this year. would be nice to lock him up before gets those honors.
- Killian

Are you kidding me? He is not even playing as our best d man this year. Martin has outplayed every player in the back end of this team.

Letang has the most raw skill in our d corpse but has barely played up to it. For a player who is so skilled and such a fast skater, he makes very very poor decisions in his own zone that are costing goals and games at the moment.

Eberle on Crosby's wing? Holy hell. Although PIT needs Letang. Top 10 D man in the league for sure. Don't see anyone else in PIT filling that spot until they see what they'll get out of Morrow, Pouliot, Despres, Dumoulin, Maatta (wow D prospects)

Haven't seen enough PIT games to decide who's better between Letang and karlsson. What I can say at this point is that Letang has 3 great years under his belt, Karlsson, only 1 so we don't know if he can bring it every year (not saying he can't, just saying we don't know). I don't believe Karlsson will ever break 80 points. He's still a phenomenal offensive D man, but even the best nowadays won't be able to crack 60 points often.

Give it a few years first.

Also. I'd do Eberle for Letang in a heartbeat. Ebs's having a sh1t start. Again I haven't seen Letang play much, but he seems to be appearing on the scoresheet quite frequently. EDM needs a #1/a guy to play with J Schultz

I'd give the pretend/wannabe Erik Karlsson 5mil max per season. Take away Crosby, Malkin and Neal (3 all stars, 2 of which are top 3 in the world) and he gets half the points if he is lucky.

if it's between Letang and Karlsson...

ill take Letang everyday of the week.

I feel Eberle-Letang swap could help out both teams. But it would be very risky for the Penguins to put their stock in 3 or 4 prospects (not counting Despres because he is already on the team). Penguins def. have the defensive prospects and a good mix of offensive (morrow, pouliot) and defensive (dumoulin, maatta) (you also forgot Scott Harrington, who I think could be the best of the bunch in a couple years).

I don't think it would happen though, I think Shero would look for a package deal over a straight 1 for 1 deal.

this offseason will be big for the penguins and it will largely be decided based on the playoffs this year.

This is why I would be leery of trading Ebs. Apart from our 1st overalls that are all in the NHL already, we really don't have much for offensive prospects after that.

I think a more interesting proposal would be Letang for Yaks, a 1st round pick, and something else.

You'd have to look at that if you were Edmonton. Id still hate it strictly because that's a high first and Yak's potential but...you'd almost have no choice.

not saying trade him because of his slow start. Saying, that so far this season letang has been red hot and eberle has not. Fair? If the opportunity was presented to trade Eberle for a #1 D man, I would do so immediately. Nick Schultz is not a great partner for J Schultz.

If you wouldn't be willing to trade Ebs for someone as good as letang, you're just being an ignorant homer.

he only won because Letang only played 51 games.

Karlsson has had one good season. doesn't make him king of the hill. he is a heck of a dman, but ill take Letang.

well that's true, but keep in mind it would be next years first round pick so who knows what could happen with the pick.

EDM needs to find a way to overcome the other western conference powerhouses. Penguins really only have a few obstacles to overcome in the East but the Oilers have a lot.

Plus I want to see Yakupov play with Malkin.
