Both Hall and Yakupov will be better than Eberle when they reach the same age.

Eberle is the one I would move, the one most other teams want the most, but is the fan favorite, future captain and would take huge guts to deal.

Hall rnh eberle for Crosby... And then what?

Yak Crosby Hemsky would be our only line...
After that, we would be so screwed. That would mean smyth would actually have to play :/ not to mention like one poster said, one more hit
To the head, and Crosby is careered.

Btw, Martin is making up to his salary this year. He's been great.

1st year he played like a $4 mil player, 2nd year like a $3-2.5 mil, on his 3rd he's playing like a $5 mil or maybe a bit more

So for Hall next year and three years for Yak? Ebs is 22, Hall 21 and Yak 19... what do you think will happen????

We should not be discussing a Crosby or Malkin trade. For Letang it would have to be for cap reasons only.

So that averages to a $4 million/year player over 3 years...what's his cap hit again?

We will sign them all, destroy Calgary repeatedly and contend for a cup for years.

His cap hit is much better than Phaneuf's or Conolly's. Enough said.

Anytime you have to go to free agent market to acquire a coveted player, you'll have to pay a bit more. We feel Martin is making up to his salary THIS YEAR and is worth every penny. If I were to say, Martin would be a "very good" signing at $4mil/year.
Phaneuf plays like a $4-5 mil guy but makes what, $7mil? Bad bad cap

One of the dumbest things I've heard in the hockey circle in a while. The other being "Bryzgalov is just as good as Price and Quick"

i actually feel bad for oiler fans, most of whom are pretty level headed and realistic people. having that guy for a blogger makes everyone assume that most oiler fans are as big of a homer as him.....which i don't find to be the case. obviously some are....same as every fan base.....but i think that fan base, atleast on this site, is looked on so much worse because of their blogger

It really depends what happens with Despres with this year. If Shero was smart, he would consider moving him this summer. He can negotiate with him this summer (I believe). Keep in mind Malkin and MAF need new contracts also. Because Crosby took the same contract as last time, I wouldn't be surprised to see both of them take similar deals. Letang will easily get 6 from the penguins. I could stand a 3 or 4 year deal at 6mil per.

Lots of teams would be interested in Letang this summer and could probably get a pretty good deal for him too. Might be able to get more for him than what we got for Staal or what the Flyers got for Richards or Carter.

This playoffs really will decide what the future of the Penguins are. Would love to see them get in the Corey Perry sweepstakes.

That Bergeron-Crosby-Perry line during the 2005 WJC was just deadly.

If Letang will outprice Pittsburgh with the 6.5 or 7 mill about to be owed to him, why would they move him for one of Edmonton's kids, let alone two. RNH is exiting his entry level deal and Hall and Ebs have 6mil contracts about to kick in.

It's a good fit in terms of players, but not in terms of cap for either team.

as for the Letang for Eberle deal... I like it, but I also like Yakupov. Any way we could work him into the deal?

But is Tambellini willing to consider one of his "prized" guys? I think he'd trade a Paajarvi but one of the others????

oh I think he would for a guy like Letang. The oilers might have all the offensive young talent, but until they get a serious goalie and better defense, they wont be able to beat teams in the Western playoffs.

I think they'd have to trade one of their big guns. There's not much hope of us being able to afford Letang's new contract with the guys we already have on the re-signing horizon.

If they're willing to accept PRV + 1st + 2nds + prospects (Klefbom, for ex.) + roster players for Letang, we'd take it and run, but I don't think they would.

Isn't that asking too much out of Shero?

I do think Hall would look good on Crosby's wing as well but Eberle is the main target.
