@markhmasters: Phil Kessel, on the ice for 4 GA, played a season-low 15:40; last time he played under 16 minutes was the 8-0 loss in Boston last March

The Leafs were out-played for most of the game by a team who's game plan was to not match toronto's gritty play. It worked for the habs last night. Good for them. Let's see how that works out for them down the stretch and the play-offs.

They played a very good game, playing their own style. I'm excited for the playoffs too.

What a crap game last night - frickn puck bounced to the Habs for the 1st 15 mins and then hab ref calls a 5 like it was a ringette game -

Habs out worked the leafs but man only scored 1 good goal on each side

Cried myself to sleep - hey coach I thought we got last change at home

Oh yeah Prust for wussy of the year

I'm not sure which part of your post makes less sense. All in all, a fun read.

Habs have been the best team in the east since the 6-0 game vs. the Leafs.

Sometimes a team needs a wake up call like that to spark them.

And that's just what happened last night too. I fully expect the next meeting to be much more like the 6-0 drubbing.

perhaps the players should have the option of throwing the officials out of the face-off circle.

same old Habs getting advantage from the officials

I appreciate that. I realized that these games are much more fun on the winning side. But this rivalry is awesome. Been doing this for 43 years (well 40 or so) and it is always a blast regardless of outcome. We got this one, you guys got the last two, and the next one will be even more important.

They are better than expected and I think they have already done enough to make the playoffs. I am not sold on the first place thing... Since the bad loss to Toronto, they have only played 2 teams above .500. They beat the Leafs, and they lost in a SO to Ottawa. They also lost in a SO to the NYI.

The got to play Tampa, NYR (2), NYI, Philadelphia, Florida, Carolina (was around .500 at the time) and Ottawa and Toronto.

Full credit to them because they ARE winning games and there are no gimme's in this league. I just temper my expectations for the Habs because they are doing what they need to do, beat the weak teams, but their schedule the last couple weeks has been pretty easy.

Last nights game was a stinker, I thought the Brown penalty should have been two but whatever, these things happen throughout the season.

Hopefully there's no leafs fans in here screaming about the sky falling. It was one loss. Pick yourself up, and move on. In a season you're going to have at least a couple of those types of games...unless you're Chicago apparently. You don't lose if your Chicago.

This is a big weekend coming up with Pitt and Boston back to back. But they have certainly been entertaining either way. I don't expect first in the east or even first in the division. But on most nights they have been fun to watch.

I think the Habs have locked up a playoff spot already. This one was HUGE for you guys.

A third loss to the Leafs would have worked its way into the players heads. Beating them now brings things back to normal, i.e. you never really know which team is going to win when MTL plays Toronto.

I would love to see the head to head over the last 20 years... it has to be really close.
