It was essentially a shoulder to shoulder hit, even though their shoulders never touched.

Well done ! Pretty sure they still won't see it your way though.
- golfingsince

So funny, the clip just before that on the video shows them side to side. Brown starts the hit and then Gorges turns away

That's brutal! Would've definitely cost you a pretty penny nowadays.

Not sure if this is fact or not, but I get the feeling they don't salt the roads as much as they used to either. That, or snow tires are becoming less effective.

- Pen15

I think to save on costs.. they don't snow plow straight away.. and salt earlier like they used to.. then just do a couple of sweeps and hope the cares do the rest.. but that is just what I have seen and am only speculating.. although Two for the Truth said that Larry Brooks from the New York Post... said it was true..

Apparently it is an illusion because you are seeing it differently from everyone else including the folks who are paid to be on TV talking about this (AKA The professionals).
- lumlums

You put the faith of the decision in the hands of "professionals" but the guys who actually call the game, who are professional officials, are wrong.

Excuse me?

Better drama than a super hot chick realizing that her rich, shallow boyfriend with awesome hair isn't the guy for her, but the dude with no money but a heart of gold is?

The Notebook is awesome.

It's like watching Karate Kid, only you don't have to pretend to believe that Ralph Macchio could win a fight.

Wow! That does sound compelling.

K guys, later.

They actually did....

PS here's a screen shot from 42.3 seconds to play (not 42.2 as shown before)

Note how you can see the numbers and how the contact is actually hip to hip???

How did Grabovski some how become useless on penalty shots? He use to spin-o-rama and score, especially against the Habs.

I said I was initially wrong, and corrected myself after I watched the replay. It was essentially a shoulder to shoulder hit, even though their shoulders never touched...brown got underneath his right arm.

Either way, I'm done arguing this with you. There are enough people on here that have told you how out to lunch with this you are...i'm done trying to help you.

He's still clearly coming from behind and making contact from behind. Why is this so difficult to understand? They are both flying into the corner to get the puck and Gorges is clearly ahead of him. Brown comes from behind and nudges him into the boards, face first. That's a dangerous play that could break a player's neck. That's why it's a penalty. It's not a shoulder to shoulder, parallel hit.

Weak attempt, looks like the refs told Grabo what move to make.

So the referees are unprofessional because they're not calling it the way you want it called and the TV analysits are right because they agree with you. You lean on "professionals" when they call it your way but the guys paid to actually enforce the rules of the game are out of their mind.

actually if you go back to the clip before they are even more side to side.... as the play goes on and gorges turns away it looks more and more like a hit from behind.....

Its hip to hip. The contact is from the side, the momentum takes him into the boards. To put it into perspective, this is a legal play in soccer.

You can make a case for it being slightly reckless (ie a 2 minute call), but not at all for being a hit from behind.

Then it was interference or boarding. Either way it was a penalty. The refs gave a five for whatever reason maybe they didn't like the look on Browns face.
