Must be a joy for you to see the Leafs in 7th after 20 games. That's never happened before. - Two_For_Truth
They'd be second if it wasn't for that stupid (frank)ing loser point.
I hate it to begin with, but it cuts extra deep when its screwing your team over.

It's unbalanced and some of the divisions don't make any sense. Florida and Tampa Bay have no business being in the same division as Toronto, Detroit and Montreal.
Plus, Columbus might never win another game again the way their division is stacked up.
All they had to do was move a couple teams from West to East and they could pretty much keep it the way it is now. - Two_For_Truth
That was my perception of all that needed to be done. I think where the problem was, in appealing to Winnipeg and Detroit, many other teams stepped up and wanting something for themselves as well. At that point, a whole reworking was necessary. |

Yeah, in a 30 team league, i really don't understand what the problem is with having 6 divisions of 5.
That's basically the only way the math works evenly. |

Like I said, there are probably a lot of team that complain about alignment of franchises, both financially and competitively. By simply catering to Winnipeg and Detroit, there were many other teams that probably wouldn't have voted for it unless they had some benefit from it as well. |

I would still love to see them set up the playoffs so any two teams could face each other for the Cup regardless of what division they play in... |

Correction: the only business Florida and Tampa do is when Toronto, Detroit and Montreal visit. |

That would be pretty sweet, but how do you do it except throwing all 16 top teams into one, giant playoff bracket?
In that case, aren't conferences and divisions irrelevant? |

they can drop a bit, I'm still happy. Gustavsson/Toskala/Raycroft couldn't crack the top 50 - BestRapperAlive
I would have been ECSTATIC a few years ago for the leafs to have a goalie sniffing the .900% range. |

What if they did first round by division and then reseed for the rest of the playoffs? |

Travel costs, Flyfreaky.
Not to mention it doesn't work well for ratings if the Leafs have to play at 10:30 pm.
Obviously I'm using the Leafs as a theoretical example of a team playing in the playoffs... |

Once upon a time, that's how it worked.

Remember when they played the Sharks in the playoffs when they were in the Western Conference?
You've go to admit, that was pretty sweet. I just miss the novelty of playing those teams, I think. |
