Who ever pays O'Reilly 5-5.5 million is not very smart. Talk about a classic over payment. That is how you get into cap trouble, paying someone who hasn't deserved that kind of money. The guy is a solid player with 1 good year in his history. Stan isn't going to overpay in a trade, then give that guy that much money. He isn't coming here, no point in beating a dead horse....

Wonder what it would take to get Ott from BUF.

EDIT: IMO Ott fits the bill for all things playoffs the 'Hawks need. Fits maybe even better than Smith.

^^THIS^^ x1000.

Been saying that for a year now. Faceoff wins - check. Grit - check. Net presence - check. All in one guy for less than $3MM

If he's available and can be gotten without giving up a lot off the current roster, definitely! Wish we would have ponied up last year.

That is Stanley thinking.

Have to make a value for value trade.

Which he won't.

When the Hawks win @ St. Louis I will stop trying to pin point when they will lose in regulation.

Corrected.

As far as acquisitions go I still would like to see Stan go after either Vermette or Nielsen. Vermette would be a lock for the 2C role and Nielsen could play centre on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th lines.

They are good at 3C and 4C with Kruger and Shaw.

2C is where the hole is because Bolland is injured.

I'd rather it actually not be from the current roster. Current roster guys only add depth, though shifted down a spots-worth due to Ott.

Would like to see what BUF would want out of the farm and/or picks...

Zach Smith? Would think if those were the only 2 players involved, the 'Hawks would jump all over it. OTT on the other hand, IMO would want more. But how much more. Doubt the over-mentioned Pirri would do it.

I was hoping the Hawks would have picked up Ott or Ribeiro when they were available.

No trades please.. Pirri and Morin are lighting it up, and I wouldn't mind seeing big Jimmy Hayes get some work in.. If he could put it together.. He's a beast

Just imagine a checking line for the playoffs comprised of Ott, Carcillo, and Bollig...

Talk about the lineup/matchup flexibility Q would have by just adding Ott.

As much as I would hate to say it, I think Bolland and a prospect is worth pursuing to make that deal happen. And you get cap relief and don't need to resign Ott for two more years.

If it means getting the final piece to a cup run (like Ott or Smith), then by all means those guys are in play.

Please do not sacrifice a really good chance at a cup for players that might never be.

Besides, Pirri, Morin and Hayes are not at the top of the heap of 'Hawks prospects.

DAL likely asked for the moon in a trade with CHI. When Ott was available, the 'Hawks were not this crazy good. They were immediate competitors to DAL. Now would be a [slightly] different story. Moot point now, Ott is in BUF. SB needs to grow a pair and trade a kid or 2 of his and go get the last piece of the 2013 Stanley Cup puzzle.

I'd rather seem a more veteran grinder as the 4th line centre. I have no issue with Kruger, in fact I think he could do more than a 4th line role. Although it's a nice luxury to have essentially 2 third lines instead of a third and fourth.

I have no issue dealing all or some of these guys, I doubt they'll ever be regular contributors on the Blackhawks.

This ^^^.

I'd be willing to bet anyone here that whenever O'Reilly is dealt, he winds up 1,000 miles+ from Denver.

I still think he'll re-sign in Colorado.

Anything is possible, but from what I've heard there is a lot of animosity there. I don't think the two sides have spoken in weeks.

If Stanbo over- pays, yes. But with the current success, do you see them doing anything? I don't.

The ice at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto is considered one of the best and it too is a large multi use facility. I was at the UC last year to see a game and I have been to the ACC many times and the difference I found is the ACC is colder in the stands. The UC is warm. Is it because Chicagoans are more warm blooded or is it because the temperature in the building is higher? Montreal is another arena that is colder inside however it isn't as multi use as the other two.
- paulr

From what I understand, the only arena comparable in sheer volume is in Montreal....and it is still smaller.

Like everything else in life there are tradeoffs and 3 rings of sky boxes and almost 20,000 seats takes up a lot of space. I believe the old Chiacgo Staduim would fit inside this build 2.5 times at least.

The ice has had issues for years and depending on the weather and the amount of events before a game it is worse.

Do you think teams will be hesitant to deal with the Hawks because of the Hawks dominance so far ?

For example giving the Hawks a #1a C or power forward might seal the deal of them winning another cup.

Especially if the Hawks are only sending Rockford Maybe Babies the other way.

- mrpaulish

Even if the nHawks were in last place there is no one in Rockford these days who is going to tempt anyone to give up a #1#2 center.
