Looked like he launched himself somewhat. Definitely left his feet. The thing is, up 4-1 with less than 30 seconds left, it's a total unnecessary hit. Just dumb.
- PLindbergh31

You think its back to Lavi's doghouse with him?

I think he played a strong game. Hopefully they just sit him down and remind him to keep his head on straight, late in a game like that one.

Was based on the outcome, because Perrault looked to be injured. Looked more like a 2-min penalty to me.
- bmeltzer

Absolutely. They weren't letting the shenanigans get out of hand at that point, and they know if they got the game misconduct wrong the NHL would pull it down.

Even if I was 2, there was 20 seconds left...immaterial at that point

How do you take commentators seriously when they immediately compare that hit to what Taylor Hall did?

Ridiculous.

yes on the assist, yes on the 400 games, and, um...wtf?

@walsha Flyers defenseman Bruno Gervais with a stellar game tonight, 1 assist and 18:42 icetime. He played his 400th career NHL game this week.

Agreed. That game was totally controlled by the Flyers. The Caps were lazy and didn't do one thing well.
- stveshdy

Credit the Flyers for that. Caps had been playing well heading into tonight. Have to take advantage of teams with heavy legs.

I like the energy he brings, but he is prone to dumb penalties. I really prefer Wellwood to Z, just as fast if not faster, and he's got more skill.

Yea, if the Flyers don't jump all over them in the first 5 minutes who knows what happens.

The skills part is debatable.

I'm sure whatever bone the puck hit on Gustafsson is fractured. So looks like Gervais and Foster in there until Meszaros is ready.

Flyers did wonderful tonight. They went right at the Caps and took their hearts. The Capitals weren't very good though.

agreed.

except he should get a game misconduct just for being stupid. No need to make a big hit with 30 seconds left in a 4 - 1 game.

- FlyerGuy

The ref's were diffusing a potentially bad last shift. I had no problem with the penalty calls, but the review should not result in a suspension. If so, then it'll be time to gripe.

Players should know better how to conduct themselves at that time of game and that was a poor decision on Z's part.

If one of Walsh's clients got in a drunk driving accident he'd congratulate them on making it so from the bar before hitting the parked police car

the funny thing is, Harry Z will need to start taking lessons from Rinaldo on how to control himself.

Saturday will be a good test. Ottawa although even more crippled by injuries than the Flyers do not take a single shift off. They will be a handful.

Bundy is kind of on the fence about the Harry Z call...

Chris Therien ‏@ctherien6 That call on Harry Z was a bush league call by those refs. Got it totally wrong

I'm not impressed by Ovechkin at all. I think he's very overrated.

The Flyers did what they needed to do. The Caps played last night, the Flyers didn't. So the Flyers jumped on them immediately and built a quick 2-0 lead. Then they built on it the second period. I didn't like the third period the Flyers played -- shut down the engines a little early for my liking -- but the game was already decided by then.

It seems like we have had so many more b2bs than our oppenents. In fact tonight seems like the only time this season that we were rested and our opponent was not. And then it was the cr@pitals on top of that. But we needed the 2 points and the confidence.

I get you on Wellwood being more skilled, but this team plays better when things are chippy and Wellwood doesn't play that game. I thought the Flyers energy line was dominant tonight on a few shifts and Z was a big part of that. I'm OK with either guy I guess.

I'll take the two points tonight. I'm just not going crazy over the win b/c the Caps were horrendous.

Can't get a pulse on this Flyers team yet. They look good one game and then flat another.

I think Zolnierczyk is as skilled, if not more so...but Wellwood avoids dumb mistakes better.

That tape should be shown to the refs during the off season as a classic example of embellishment.
