I like this post better then yours

"not sure if alot of guys here are confusing shattenkirk with pietrangelo or not but briere for shatenkirk is a pretty fair trade imo, he is nothing spectaculari n fact he was traded with stewart for eric johnson.

what briere would give the blues in the playoffs would far more surpass what we would get from shatty, in fact i would think the blues would have to add something to the deal, not us.

i see guys posting briere+1st's+laughton or maybe coots and scheenn, thats non-sense."

- Marc D

And Colorado is shooting themselves in the foot as we speak. Shattenkirk is a good #2 who can move the puck better than 95% of defenseman with a good shot. He isn't a defensive liability per say but I'd pair him with a Grossman or Schenn. It'll take more than Briere to get him I'd think, even if its just Briere and Laughton. But if StL bites Homburgerler would be silly not to do a straight 1 for 1 deal.

J Bo has some game left at least but at a horrible cap hit, I'm scared it will be Ryan Whitney who seems done

Isn't this all moot since Briere has a NMC and has mentioned that he won't waive it?

*Bump*

Bill.....MJL.....Jsaq......can you guys see something like this happening? Is it within the rules of the CBA?

- jeffherrm

If a player is bought out under the new amnesty clause, that player can be signed by any team EXCEPT the team who bought him out. SO if the Flyers trade Briere to Boston or any other team, and he is bought out after the season, the FLyers can then resign him after July 1st.

St. Louis has no interested in moving Shattenkirk. Why would they even consider trading a top pairing dman when they have a great team with a chance to go all the way? We'd have to blow them away to get Shattenkirk (i.e. grossly overpay).

He never said he wouldn't waive it. That information was fabricated.

I loved Sami. It's a shame the injury bug bit him.

Yes, teams can take on 50% of the cap hit/money. If Briere was traded to Boston and they bought him out, then he can sign anywhere but Boston.

Not sure if the Flyers can assume half of the buy out cost, however.

- Jsaquella

The buyout would have to paid in full by Boston as per league rules.

Frank tweeted that Briere won't move it. In the actual story, the quote is that he's not commenting on it, and wants to stay a Flyer and loves being here.

But he didn't specifically say, I will not waive it to go anywhere, I'm staying.

Even if the Flyers did a salary retention trade? That's the part I'm not sure of.

the tower theater shows were very special for me, small venue, we were in the 10th row, just watching Jerry from up close.

I loved the Spectrum shows but nothing better then seeing them in smaller theater

- Marc D

very true, the Tower was always an awesome place to see a concert

Its my understanding that even if they eat some salary and cap as part of the trade, the acquiring team is still on the hook if they choose a buyout. I haven't looked at this stuff since right after the lockout ended, so I could be wrong, but thats how I remember it.

If they think Briere puts them over the top to get the Cup, it's not unheard of. Remember Forsberg to Nashville?

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. They haven't published the full CBA yet, so it's just the scraps that have bee released.
